Splish! Splash! Sploosh! A little girl is about to discover the wonders of mixing colors. With the sound of paint splatter, a bright blue elephant named EleBooyah enters the scene. She wants to help paint, too, and pretty soon the girl and her elephant are playing with all the colors of the rainbow. What do blue and yellow make? A funky green frog! And red and blue? An enormous purple octopus king! What other creatures are waiting for the splatter of paint on a brush to join the raucous painting party?Charles George Esperanza’s author/illustrator debut is a riot of color and magic. Esperanza's rhythmic stanzas and vibrant illustrations tickle the imagination, and this is sure to become a staple color book for kids across the country.Sky Pony Press, with our Good Books, Racehorse and Arcade imprints, is proud to publish a broad range of books for young readers—picture books for small children, chapter books, books for middle grade readers, and novels for young adults. Our list includes bestsellers for children who love to play Minecraft; stories told with LEGO bricks; books that teach lessons about tolerance, patience, and the environment, and much more. Red, Yellow, Blue (and a Dash of White, Too!)From Esperanza, C. G. (ILT)

Review "A true feast for the senses, the first thing I thought of while flipping through this book was Basquiat after a Skittle binge. There is a level of confidence to Esperanza's style that is unique in a debut author—his control of the page is such that he is unafraid to loosen the reins and let the colors run a little wild. The result is thrilling and hypnotic."—The Huffington Post

About the Author Charles George Esperanza, illustrator of Jackie and Me, was born the second of six kids. The South Bronx is where he first opened his eyelids. A land shrouded in bright colored decay, the birthplace of graffiti and the hip-hop DJ! He paints fantasy worlds of elephants, and castles too! Accompanying this wonder is some promising truth. Charles has a voice that is seldom heard. A fusion of jazz, distorted guitars, and chirping birds. He resides in the Bronx, New York.

By DiapersandDaydreams Budding artists, get ready for a big splash of color coming your way! Join a little girl on a journey to discover a palette of mixing, mashing colors! With a splatter of paint off her brush she creates creatures that help her form more and more colors from the ones she already is using! First she splatters some blue to create a painting elephant named EleBooyah! Then her imagination grows wilder, as the red and blue the use, not only make the color purple, but form a purple octopus king! This book is a great introduction to the primary colors and what colors form when they are mixed together (i.e. blue + yellow = green). This book celebrates diversity of characters and colors and is a big splash of messy fun! Join the painting party and pick up this book! Read more at www.diapers-and-daydreams.com !

I should say WE love, love, LOVE this children’s book!! This has become 3 year-old Alice's favorite book!Red, Yellow, Blue (and a Dash of White, Too!), is centered about a little girl; since she doesn’t have a name in the book we subsititue Alice. You can imagine how excited Alice gets over that!! The little girl has a blue elephant named EleBooyah. Together they discover the wonderful and fun world of mixing colors. The colors and the designs are vibrant and FUN!! Seriously, each page is a work of art. FUN mixed with swirls, swooshes, splats, swashes and splashes of color!! Mixing colors together on each and every page. At the end of the book all the colors are mixed together in one long fold out page. be sure not to miss that fold-out!Red, Yellow, Blue (and a Dash of White, Too!) is an adventure in color. This is an artistic, modern and fresh children’s book; full of movement and energy!! I’ve truly never seen anything like it; which is saying A LOT!! Alice’s library could rival our local county library! The kid loves to read and be read too.We love all of the sing songy writing. Alice loves the fun sounds like splish, splash, sploosh, swoosh, swish, and swash!Red, Yellow, Blue (and a Dash of White, Too!) is a fun book!! One that will be asked for over and over again!! Welcome to a new era of business in which your brand is defined by those who experience it.

Do you know how your customers experience your brand today?

Do you know how they really feel?

Do you know what they say when you re not around?

In an always-on world where everyone is connected to information and also one another, customer experience is your brand. And, without defining experiences, brands become victim to whatever people feel and share.

In his new book X: The Experience When Business Meets Design bestselling author Brian Solis shares why great products are no longer good enough to win with customers and why creative marketing and delightful customer service too are not enough to succeed. In X, he shares why the future of business is experiential and how to create and cultivate meaningful experiences.

This isn’t your ordinary business book. The idea of a book was re-imagined for a digital meets analog world to be a relevant and sensational experience. Its aesthetic was meant to evoke emotion while also giving new perspective and insights to help you win the hearts and minds of your customers. And, the design of this book, along with what fills its pages, was done using the principles shared within.

Brian shares more than the importance of experience. You’ll learn how to design a desired, meaningful and uniform experience in every moment of truth in a fun way including:

  • How our own experience gets in the way of designing for people not like us
  • Why empathy and new perspective unlock creativity and innovation
  • The importance of User Experience (UX) in real life and in executive thinking
  • The humanity of Human-Centered Design in all you do
  • The art of Hollywood storytelling from marketing to product design to packaging
  • Apple’s holistic approach to experience architecture
  • The value of different journey and experience mapping approaches

The future of business lies in experience architecture and you are the architect.

Business, meet design.

From the Back Cover

EXPERIENCE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN BUSINESS.

YET, MOST EXECUTIVES AND ENTREPRENEURS NEGLECT THE VALUE OF DESIGNING EXPERIENCES FROM THE ONSET. THEY TALK, BUILD, AND SELL AROUND IT, WHILE STILL MISSING IT. WITH X, YOU WILL LEARN THE IMPORTANCE OF EXPERIENCE AND HOW TO DESIGN EXPERIENCES. WHY? BECAUSE EXPERIENCE IS EVERYTHING. EXPERIENCE IS HUMAN. EXPERIENCE IS SENSORY. THAT'S WHY THE FUTURE OF BRANDING IS EXPERIENCE ARCHITECTURE. IT'S PERSONAL. IT'S CULTURALLY AND CONTEXTUALLY RELEVANT. IT'S ASPIRATIONAL. AS YOU READ THIS BOOK YOU'LL QUICKLY REALIZE THAT IT'S INTENDED TO DELIVER A THOUGHTFUL AND INTENTIONAL EXPERIENCE. AND THAT'S THE POINT.

9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Finally A Book That Nails The Process Of Actually Defining and Profitably Developing Customer Experience For Your Business By Dave Lakhani There is so much good to say about this book. This is the rare book that you'll end up highlighting, sticky noting and filling notebooks with your ideas after reading it and then you'll promptly read it again. This is a hands on, get dirty kind of book, if you use it for more than intellectual entertainment you'll be busy for quite a while building a model that works. But, if you take the time to actually do the work, implement the findings and look at the feedback, you'll take your business to the next level. X is the one book I'll give to all my clients this year and that will be part of their required work with me.So if it is so great, what only four stars? I'll get to that. What I think X does best is connect experience and brand. We've all known for a long time that a brand is simply a collection of experiences that people have with a product or service that they can bring to mind but few are able to adequately make that connection intentional. This book is the roadmap to becoming the brand of choice, the brand of conversation, the brand of sharing, the brand people buy. It doesn't matter if you are a service company, a product company, brick and mortar or online, the principles all apply.Throughout the book you'll find many roadmaps that require you to actually do some work to come to the right conclusions for your business but you will if you do the work. The book is also full of well articulated case studies that show the outcome of the work for other companies, you'll find many you can relate to. The book also does a great job of showing you how to anticipate your customers wants and needs and get ahead of the curve in delivering experiences they desire but also experiences they don't even know they want yet and that is the competitive advantage this book gives. The book is composed of 25 sections. It begins with What Is X and continues through Design, Persona, Storytelling and finishes with section 9.0, This is water - You'll have experienced the journey fully to finally understanding what is meant by the idea of customer experience but more importantly you'll know how to create them for your clients. The section called The Grid will be of particular importance and may be one of the most profitable pieces of the book. In this section you'll develop a customer map where every ever leads to excellence at every connection. This is where designing your experience starts. The next very important segment of the book is journey mapping, it outlines the journey that your client takes throughout their lifetime with your company. We've often explored the idea of lifetime value of a customer but rarely do we explore what the journey looks like for the customer and where along the journey we can delight and surpass their expectations with experience. Now here is the hard part and where the book fails and I'm not blaming the author for this at all, but it is the experience of reading the book itself. The book is full color, printed on heavy stock and that is the problem. As you are reading the book you'll come across pages that have a very dark background making them very hard to read in all but the best of light. And, if you want to use this as an actual working book, you'll have to add sticky notes to the book because on many pages you can't make notes in the margin because of the page color. This seems to be an emerging trend with a lot of books but if I can't easily read it and easily highlight it, it loses a star. For a book all about experience, the experience this one delivers is not quite there but that is completely trumped by the information inside. It is worth the aggravation to get the good stuff. This book has the possibility of helping you create dramatic change in your business, change that will lead to raving fans and profitability. It isn't a fast read and it will take work but it is your roadmap to exceptional customer experiences. This is a must read for every business owner, customer service team and CEO.

McDonald Digital Design, Journey Maps, Experiences, Touch Points and Personas form a new language of experience design. The terminology, examples and connections across these ideas can be confusing, particularly for people used to creating technology and solutions in the prior model. This book provides a highly stylized but still effective overview of the design deliverables and process. However, the book is surprisingly less usable than one that is designed. The Format gets in the way of thus highly stylized coffee table style book on digital designThis book is in a long line of works that try to be graphically stunning -- showing off designer skills. while still conveying important information. The design too often overwhelms the content, making it less accessible and valuable to the reader. This is a paradox that a book about design could be designed in such a way as to make it less usable. The basic point of the book is that experience increasingly determines who wins and loses in the digital economy. Its a concept that is well established by a number of other books. Solis goes one step further in showing you the elements of designing and developing experiences which is a real plus. But the book is rather unusable as its difficult to annotate -- given the dark pages. Its also difficult to read as the text is in different places on different pages. This is not a book you read -- its a book you look at, which is a shame because that can easily trivialize the content I am sure it will win print design awards, but print designers are not the 'users' or audience of this information -- not designing for the customer means its not designed. The result is a book that you want to use and share with others, but the format gets in the way -- hence the three star rating.

Chock Full of Customer Experience Brilliance By Lisa Petrilli Brilliant as always, in this book Brian Solis is masterful at helping leaders at all levels of an organization - from the CEO on down - understand how critical it is to embrace the concept of experience architecture. I highly recommend this book to every single leader tasked with influencing the future of their company or brand in some way, shape or form. Which, in essence, means virtually every business person should be held accountable to contributing to what Solis defines as a good customer experience ecosystem: one that grabs the customers’ attention and then delights them all through their journey with you. Because if you don’t, your competitors will.

Rodgers Twelve-year old Sam Waters wants nothing more than to get a pet, but his parents first want him to prove that he can handle the responsibility of caring for an animal. What better way to demonstrate to his parents that he is conscientious enough than to get a job at a pet store. Sam happened to have stumbled upon a store that sold only hamsters, and the owner was willing to give him an after-school job feeding the hamsters and cleaning their cages. Unfortunately, Sam never realized that those hamsters would turn into mean little monsters after they got a hold of the little candies that he and his friend had gotten from the HorrorLand gift shop. His dream job quickly turned into a nightmare and he had no idea how to get out. With this book's setting of an after-school job at a local shop, fans of R.L. Stine's Goosebumps series will get a dose of economics together with the suspense they have come to expect from this popular series.

I think I'm too old for these now :( By Zellie I know it might be silly to include Goosebumps in my challenge but it's been awhile since I've read them! It just hit me today that I should had added a Fear Street title too, oh well, there's always next year! Can I just say how crazy that cover looks? I have a confession, I'm a complete and total hamster lover. I've raised hamsters my whole life. And it was weird, as I was reading this book, I would often catch my hamster staring at me while I read (I read at night so he would be awake bathing or eating) and I would ask him "you're not gonna go crazy on me like these guys, right?!" haha.I never understood why anyone in their right mind would visit a place called Horrorland. I have to say, the "shrimp" that burrowed into Sam's skin was gross! I would had left at that point! If you ask me, staying at that place and buying thing from there is just asking for trouble!Sam was a decent character, he was always put in really bad situations and I felt bad for him. His parents never believed him and blamed him for everything, even things that were clearly not his doing and his younger brother (who got away with everything) annoyed the crap out of me. His friend Lexi also annoyed the crap out of me. Every time she "helped" she just ended up making the situation a million times worse! And where does she keep coming from?! I mean, seriously! And like all Goosebump books (from what I remember) they had a weird twist in the end!

He buys a phone-like candy dispenser called a Phoney-Phone and a package Insta-Gro Pet. Late that night while at the dinner table, Sam asks his parents if he could have a pet hamster. They told him that he would have to show that he was responsible enough to have one. Sam comes up with a great idea, he gets a job a pet store to show how responsible he is. Oh no! Sam soon finds out the hamsters in the store have ate his Insta-Gro Pet."Little Shop of Hamsters" will make every kid think twice about getting a hamster for a pet. The cover is a little frightening, and kids will love it. Once again, the story ends in a cliffhanger that will be resolved later on in the series.

Justice (Lawless), by Jeffrey Salane

From School Library Journal Gr 4–7—"What happened next happened fast," the narrator says at one point, which aptly sums up the pace of this sequel to Salane's Lawless (Scholastic, 2013). The story picks up the action just after the close of the previous book as adolescent master criminal M Freeman is held captive inside the sprawling hideout of the Fulbrights, a disciplined team of vigilantes and arch-rivals of her own Lawless School. Here, M and her Lawless classmates are fitted for ultra high-tech battle suits and forced through a grueling series of tests, preparation for a dangerous mission kept secret from them. When M hatches a scheme to break out her mother, imprisoned on an upper floor, readers are vaulted on an urgent trip to a Soviet-era stadium outside Prague, the British Museum in London, and a secret apartment in Manhattan. Stolen art, moon rocks, medieval alchemy, and a lesser-known text by Geoffrey Chaucer all tie into a snowballing plot by the Fulbright leader to engineer a perfect human. Speculative technology elements are often thought-provoking. Though the narrative sometimes veers into the absurd, plot twists and vivid suspense effectively keep readers on edge. The cast here is large, and loyalties are often in question, so this volume is better understood after reading Lawless. A sudden dark turn and a cliff-hanger ending suggest another book is on the way. VERDICT A good choice for younger thriller readers, especially in collections where the first book is already circulating.—Bob Hassett, Luther Jackson Middle School, Falls Church, VA

You really feel sorry for M when she realizes that she can’t trust anyone, maybe not even her own friends! This one was kind of on the depressing side, but I’m assuming it is like the bridge between the ultimate final “battle” in the series. This is the book where all hope seems gone. The characters that you meet are intriguing and keep you guessing at their motives. Justice brings up more thought-provoking questions such as in Lawless. Mr. Salane has a great writing style. It really draws you in and holds you there. Like Lawless, I couldn’t put this book down! I can’t wait to read more from Mr. Salane!*NOTE* I got a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

Needs a Facelift By Harbinger Spoilers! While Justice's predecessor Lawless stumbled in many ways, it ultimately managed to be a pretty good story, minus a ridiculous ending. Unfortunately, Justice doesn't do the same. This book sees M working for the Fulbrights-which would be interesting, except for the fact that they actually accept her so easily. Also, while Lawless struggled with some of the flow of the story, Justice flops. It just isn't that interesting, and there are far too many abstract concepts. Sure, there was the Box in Lawless. But it was just a really cool high-tech simulator. Now, it's this geeky "programmable matter", that's just a big headache. If they can build suits with programmable matter, than can't everything else be programmable matter too? And what's so terrifying about a demerit? It just all feels contrived. And don't get me starting on the ending. The fact that the Fulbrights' leader is a zombie doesn't make any sense. And it's not explained either really. While parts of this book are decent, it struggles to fit together as a cohesive whole. Hopefully. Mayhem will be better.
