GRADUATION SPECIAL!!! Save 40% for a limited time... CONGRATULATIONS! YOU’RE A PARALEGAL! NOW WHAT? Paralegal programs are great to teach you the basics – how to write, how to analyze, different areas of law, etc., but they limit your exposure to what happens next. Sure, a career advisor will spend 1-2 days explaining how to format your resume, how to draft a cover letter and how you can go to them to critique it and get help with your job search. But think about it – you were just in a class with at least 20-30 other aspiring paralegals that learned the same things you did. After all, the structure of the paralegal program has to be consistent for all of its students, from the courses they offer to the career advice they give at the end. Plus, once you’ve completed the program, you’re no longer classmates. For the most part, you’re all competing for the same law firm jobs - along with past program graduates who may also be hunting for a job. Most job-hunting guides have the same problem. Because they are intended as a general, how-to guide on finding a job, the majority give you a one-size-fits-all approach that may or may not work for you. The way to get an edge is to make yourself stand out. But how? Introducing The Street-Smart Paralegal’s Guide to: Getting a Job with a Lawyer or Law Firm Instead of the usual job search advice, this guide gives you a step-by-step system to find the paralegal job of your dreams! Discover how to: 1. Easily create a plan of action; 2. Explore different areas of law; 3. Find lawyers and law firms you’d like to work for; 4. Network effectively to make connections; 5. Ace the interview; 6. Properly follow up after the interview; 7. Choose from multiple job offers; and, 8. Ensure you made the right choice. Written by a paralegal that’s been in the trenches and experienced the highs and lows of the job search since 2002, The Street-Smart Paralegal’s Guide to: Getting a Job with a Lawyer or Law Firm will help you avoid that dead-end job and create a career that’s as unique as you are!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. `So Dentists I can't live without' By Grady Harp San Diego, California Author Leela Hope studied English Literature at Berkeley, earning a degree in 1989. Her writing covers a span of several genres, but she always returns to her first love, children's fiction. And it is there that her star shines brightest. Always finding something unique on which to base her stories, she makes each tale a learning experience for children as well as offering some pointers for parenting!Walter Wolf's mother tells him he has a dentist appointment the next day ad Walter is afraid of the idea, not knowing what to truly expect except gossip form his fiends and decides to hide. His brother Willy went and had to have a cavity drilled! So Walter hides beneath his bed with a box of cookies and crackers and soup. His parents look for him and his mother stays in his room until he comes out from under his bed. His wise mother says he doesn't have to go until he asks to go - a trick for sure, Walter thinks. He will only have to go if his teeth hurt and he won't be able to have candy and ton that note Walter changes his mind and preferring candy, he consents to go. When he meets the dentist he is just encouraged to brush his teeth and Walter gets a treat from the fine dentist. All is well and Walter is no longer afraid of the dentist.A fine little book filled with super illustrations and a solid lesson for children to change their minds about visiting the dentist regularly. We often have fears the first time we have to do something new.Leela Hope has written a wonderful book for children from 2-89, and everybody in between. Walter Wolf's mommy told him that the next day they would be going to visit the dentist. Walter had never been before, and it scared him. In the morning he hid under the bed, and his mom and dad looked everywhere for him. Mom knew where he was, and told him to come out from under the bed. Walter did end up going to see the dentist, and when you read this book you will discover what happened.Parents/teachers will really enjoy reading this book to their children. The children will be very interested in discussing what fears they may have of seeing the dentist. The children can discuss what happened when they had a visit to the dentist. The illustrations are bright, vivid and beautiful. One of the best parts of reading Leela Hope's books is that they are written in rhyme. Rhyme is so much fun to read and hear. The other great thing about reading Leela Hope's books is that there is a lesson to be learned. These are thei best kinds of books to read. Note: a complimentary copy of this book was provided to read and review.Recommended. prisrob 03-31-15

Silk, Author/Reviewer This children's book is for ages 2-6, or any age when one fears visiting the dentist. I know a grandma who would rather stay all day in bed rather than visit the dentist! Even animals fear dentists! I have dogs who wish they weren't dragged to the veterinarian's clinic for teeth cleaning. But here's the story of Walter Wolf, he's only 4 years old and has never been to the dentist. He tries to hide because the appointment has been made. He's just a kid and he's afraid. His brother, Willy, had a cavity in one of his teeth filled ... after it was drilled! Yikes! Walter hides under his bed with lots of goodies, but mom and dad know exactly where he is. Then a surprise! Mom says if he doesn't want to go, it's okay; it's his decision to make. Now, how will Walter learn how to make the smart decision? This is a great story, well written for kids and the colorful illustrations are charming.

Travelling a lot around the world and living in several countries, have provided us with the opportunity to meet many people from different cultures and backgrounds. Through the mentioned journeys, each of us met many successful individuals, as well as the ones trapped in the life their destiny chose for them. We realized neither the successful ones were necessarily the most talented ones, nor the trapped ones had essentially less capabilities. However, there was a significant difference notable between them. Each of the mentioned groups had their own approach towards the changes. There was a repetitive pattern: The first group was positively embracing the change and the challenges coming along with it. They were not allowing the fear of failure to win them and to hold them back from taking action. They could swim against the flow to make the difference. They were ready to learn from their mistakes and to adjust their actions on the fly. And they had the confidence that they would reach their desired goal, no matter what. They were in charge of their lives. The second group however was somehow afraid of the change and its potential consequences. The fears were governing them, and they were just obeying their fears faithfully. Even though they were constantly unhappy with their lives, they were making unbreakable friendship with their frustration. Their preference was to believe they were destined to live a life of misery. And they were playing the role of a victim. The decision to write this book came from the above observation, hoping it would show how detrimental the fear of change could be. This book is a symbolic story which highlights the essentiality of embracing the positive changes in one’s life. We believe this book could reinforce the importance of getting over the fears in making the change happen to group one. It will also provide a wake-up call to the people in the second group to start accepting the challenge and move out of their comfort zone to change their destiny. We hope this book pumps fresh blood into the veins of the postponed positive changes in your life. Best Ebook The Diary of a Rubbish Witch: The Big Move (Volume 1), by Natalie Bailey

The hilarious new diary book for kids age 9-12.

Being a witch is cool, right? Wrong! Being a witch is only cool if you’re any good at it. Me? I’m an awful witch. No – worse than that, I’m absolutely useless. My name is Georgie Mills and I’m eleven years old. I live with my family and yes, they’re all witches too. My dad is superb at witchcraft, but he only ever uses his powers when he has to; he’s far too busy pretending to all of the outside world that he’s completely ‘normal’. My mom is brilliant at casting multiple spells at the same time and with a click of her fingers she can make beds, wash the dishes, dust the furniture and get dressed – all at the same time! My older sister Sophia is a natural when it comes to all things witchy and boy – does she know it! She’s showing all of the promise of becoming an amazing witch and can cast a spell without a seconds thought. Then there’s me – rubbish! I’m not even kidding.

This diary book for kids is full of magic and paranormal fun that children will love. The first in the series, read how being a young witch isn’t as glamourous as it sounds.

Enjoy some fun and wacky short stories. Are you ready to hear your kids giggle through some amusing stories?

  • Story 1. Kids will enjoy these strange animal noises. They're fun to make, too.
  • Story 2. The suspense builds as everybody except for Santa comes out of a fireplace.
  • Story 3. There are some funny things in this pond.
  • Story 4. Wacky tastes are the feature of this story.
  • Story 5. Sea creatures are doing something strange.
  • Story 6. You won't believe what's laughing.
  • Story 7. It's the silliest zoo that you'll ever visit.
  • Story 8. What do you do when your reflection won't cooperate?
  • Story 9. A princess saves a knight in distress, but that's not the wacky part.
  • Story 10. Imagine the power of this super remote control.
The stories are short enough (around 200 words each) to keep kids focused on the story and to not seem overwhelming. Pictures are kept to a minimum (mostly in the form of story headings) so that children can focus on the storytelling without too many visual clues. Each story is followed by four optional multiple choice questions designed to assess basic reading comprehension and reasoning skills. Answers are tabulated in the back of the book. Each story is followed by a storytelling prompt, with blank lines for writing, which can be used to try and get kids to write their own wacky stories.May your children or students learn to love reading and make it a lifelong habit.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Short silly stories for kids By T. Murrell The author put together 10 silly stories to entertain children and interest reluctant readers. Each story has an element about it that is out of place. At the end of each story are reader questions so the children can review what they've just read. There is also space for the reader to make up another story or change elements of the current story. My 8 year old read the book to my 6 year old. The older one thought the book was a bit boring, but said it might be better if I'd read it using different voices. The 6 year old said it was funny and seemed to really enjoy the silliness. The vocabulary is simple enough that I think the 6 yr old will be able to read it herself soon. There are a couple of black and white pictures at the beginning of each chapter, but the book focuses mainly on the stories.I received this book free of charge from Goodreads in exchange for my honest review.

From School Library Journal PreS-Gr 1—Peppa Pig and her little brother George are back in another wacky adventure! Peppa and George love to help Granny and Grandpa Pig in the garden. After Peppa plants seeds, she forgets that patience is an important factor in the growth process. To pass the time, the siblings create games and imitate insects. When they spot birds pecking at their seeds, they build a scarecrow. Mummy and Daddy Pig soon join in on the fun. Fans of the "Peppa Pig" television series will especially enjoy this zany adventure. Readers will laugh out loud when Peppa imitates a worm and snicker when a snail is called a "Mon-sta!" Storytellers will relish the chance to imitate Peppa's British accent and act out her chuckling snorts. Colorful, digital vector-shaped illustrations fill each spread. Parents will love the notion of constructing a salad into the shape of a dinosaur ("dino-saw") when George refuses to eat his vegetables. Readers will want more Peppa Pig action after this engaging storytime addition. The book can serve as an additional purchase, as there are numerous formats in the "Peppa Pig" series, including DVDs and mobile apps.—Krista Welz, North Bergen High School, NJ

About the Author Dugald A. Steer, Editor: "With what trepidation I sat down to give my editorial attentions to what was clearly the masterwork of a very erudite man, should be obvious to all who read this book." So begins a letter, written in 1894, from Dugald Steer to an Oxford friend. The letter goes on to explain how a chance meeting with Dr. Ernest Drake at the BULL'S HEAD TAVERN in Dorking, Surrey, made him more than a little curious. Skeptical at first, he took up Dr. Drake's offer to meet him at his house and St. Leonard's Forest, and to attend one of the S.A.S.D. meetings in London. There, he became further involved in Dr. Drake's work, joining him on an expedition to Scotland to try and estimate the hunting range of the Dornoch Wyrm. As he writes, the trip was, "a cause of some emotion, as many of my relative, particularly the Ross branch, come from so near." Douglas Carrel, Chief Draughtsman: A native of Scotland, Douglas Carrel was clearly a dragonologist of some standing, and often accompanied Dr. Drake on some of his more fruitful expeditions. In a letter from Constantinople to the editor he says, "It is with considerable sense of honour, and no small amount of pride, that I lend my hand to the compiling of this most worthy volume . . . Ultimately, I feel that all of us--within this privileged circle in particular--are duty-bound to preserve and perpetuate the love and lore of dragons." Helen Ward, Scientific Artist: Helen Ward trained as an illustrator at Brighton School of Art, although it is not known exactly when she came into contact with Dr. Drake. However a quote from her autobiography makes some things clear: "As a child I dreamed of dragons. When age allowed, I traveled.Unfortunately, several expeditions to Europe and one to that part of Russia known as Finland specifically to capture the likeness of a live dragon have ended in failure. The creatures seemed deliberately elusive . . .. With the help of descriptions, notes, and detailed drawings made by others I have managed to illustrate these majestic creatures to the satisfaction of those more fortunate and better-informed dragonologists." Wayne Anderson, Pictorial Artist: Interested in cryptozoology from an early age, Wayne Anderson first came into contact with S.A.S.D. at one of their meetings in Wyvern Way in London. It was after a couple of trips with Drake--to the Alps in 1878 and to Scotland in 1880--that Wayne realized his early dragon drawings were, in fact, more life-like than he could have realised. Like most of the other collaborators on DRAGONOLOGY, he has contributed to many other books for children. He enjoyed a fruitful collaboration with Helen Ward that resulted in books such as THE TIN FOREST and THE DRAGON MACHIINE. Nghiem Ta, Artistic Direction: Dr. Drake met Nghiem Ta in the Fukien (now Fujian) Province of China where she was working in her grandfather's bookshop. Their shared interest in dragons became evident when he showed her a copy of the fabled DRAGON SUTRA of Hong Wei, which the monks of that monastery made for him as a gift. He asked Miss Ta if such a revered object could be bound into a book and was so impressed with her work that he later invited her to London to oversee the creation of DRAGONOLOGY.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Peppa crazy By KAM I bought this book for my 3 year old because she just loves Peppa. The book seems to be a couple of the TV episodes mushed together but that's fine with my daughter because she knew what was coming next so she felt like she was reading it. We love the book, the pictures are cute, but if you are looking for completely new material then you may be disappointed.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Eating Healthy By tvtv3 In this "Peppa Pig" story, Peppa helps Grandpa Pig plant vegetable seeds in his garden. Peppa and her brother, George, also pretend to be snails. Later on Grandpa and Granny Pig help Peppa and George build a scarecrow. Later on Mummy and Danny Pig come over and they go blackberry picking. They end the day eating a healthy meal. A story Peppa Pig fans will love with a message about eating healthy.
