By Angela I liked this ebook with all the author's comments on why he/she found this pet of hers/his to be the top favorite with also great colorful pictures of eachof her /his animals and her bewildering quest of who to take to a special party.This is why I feel that this ebook was rated as a five star ebook.I have had many pets in my past life that could have been considered as my favorite pets. Blonde, a cocker spaniel, a very smart parrot, Paco and now a beta fish named Robbie! And many others:dogs, cats, lizards and birds. But right now Robbie is my present favorite because he's right here in my dining room in a small bowl but who is very friendly and easy to care for, I still love Paco, my parrot a whole bunch. 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Excellent Book By Voltron I play B6 a lot and have many books on this opening. I enjoy it for its shock value, and for taking my opponent out of memorized lines. I play this opening in rapid chess tournaments as my main defense against most of whites openings and I have had great success with it. While 1...B6 is not considered a great defense at the grandmaster level, at lower levels many are not booked up on this opening and it ends up being a great defense. This book is excellent for someone looking to take up the opening, I would recommend this as your second book and not your first book when first learning this opening. The reason is the book winning with the english defese (the b6 defense) by Andrew Soltis is a good primer on the opening and once you have gone through that book, then this book should be next. This book will discuss games that have been played and describe the reason for each move. It will explain why a certain candidate move is bad, why another is better, where to focus your forces where to look out for counter attack, and what your position should look like. The book is well written and has many question and answer format as well. For example after 1e4 b6 2nc3 Bb7 the book will ask you a question on why the "natural" move Nc3 is bad. As you read the answer you find out that the move allows black to set up a nasty pin and a potential trap.So as you play through the games you will learn a lot at each step of the opening. This is an excellent book. Again I would use this as my second book to study, if I was learning it for the first time. And the every man version as the third book to study. The reason is Soltis book on the opening is a small book but gives you the main candidate replies and moves, you can finish the book in a week or less and have a good idea of the common replies. Envetually you want to learn the reason for the moves and this is where this book works well, you will play through games have the moves explained. Finally when you are done with this book I would move on to everyman chess book on the opening, Play B6 (the one written by Christian Bauer) the last book has a great deal of subvariations that you want to learn after you have the core of the opening down.

If you are looking for an openings type book, this isn't it. In addition, he includes his usual, but annoying, goofy comments. He also inserts many sub-variations and sub-sub variation that can occur in the game being discussed. . This is not necessarily bad, but it can be confusing when you are studying one game. This is not a beginners book. His coverage seems to be complete. If you play this opening regularly and are above 1600 uscf , the book, will be helpful. (Given that there is very little literature on this opening).

Winner Next book up is called Spectacular Spots and this is by Susan Stockdale. Susan writes wonderful, beautiful rhyming books and the paintings she creates to go with them are ones just to gaze at and fall into. They're beautiful. And this is no different. In this book, obviously by it's title Spectacular Spots, we're looking at animals with spots. And that includes dozing hogs, dashing horses, clinging frogs. You're hearing all of these mighty verbs, right? All of these really great words that Susan has chosen to describe the animals. You see spots that are round, spots that are kind of funny shaped. And there's even some spots on animals that you might not have anticipated. Like, I don't relate spots with owls. I don't relate spots with horses. And yet when we look closely there is that. I like that Susan, in the back of her book, included sort of a summary of all of the different animals, a little bit more information about each animal and its spots and how it uses its spots to protect itself in nature or to send messages to mates, to send messages to predators, to send messages. By Heidi Grange Susan Stockdale has created a fun book that works well as a read aloud for both personal and classroom use. This book along with her others introduces patterns to young readers. The text of the book is rhyming and works well for reading out loud. The additional information about each animal at the end helps explain why these animals have spots. The guessing game makes for an interactive experience for young readers. The gorgeous illustrations highlight each animal and the spots that make them so distinctive.

By Happy Elf Mom "If we're lonely or sad, God knows just what we need."This charming story from Andy Andrews may be a great source of encouragement for your four- to ten-year-old. It teaches children that our friends need us just as much as we need them! The gift book comes with a presentation page, and I'd highly recommend reading this story aloud before any trip to the local shelter for a new furry friend.Henry Hodges Needs a Friend is not only about how Henry finds the friend he needs, but about how his new friend finds acceptance and belonging and a home. The end of the story makes moms sniffle! Be warned!It also features some zany imaginary characters. Eight-year-old Woodjie was laughing at some of the illustrations Colleen Madden contributed. They really brought out the emotion of the book. I've read the story to Woodjie, but Woodjie is certainly capable of reading the story himself. I'd recommend it for kids to read on their own from about first grade and up. I got this book for free through booklookbloggers.com, but I'm under no obligation to give a positive review.I'm hoping for a sequel, I really am. I didn't want the story to end.It's a nice-sized book with several pages, but short enough to make for a heavy rotation bedtime story. Guess what we're reading again tonight?

It's a children's book about a little boy who lived at the end of a "long dead end street" and had no friends to play with. His parents promised him a pet that was going to be one of a kind just like him. He commenced to dreaming about the kind of pet that would be unlike any other. In the end, he finds a puppy who looks just as lonely as he feels. It's a fun story written in rhyme that reminds me just a little of Dr. Seuss. I read the story to my 3.5 week old daughter, but I don't think she got too much out of it, though I'm hoping to fuel her obsession with books as young as possible!! :) :) I would say this book would be for toddlers and up to maybe 1st or 2nd grade? I'm not real good with when a story like this would no longer be interesting.The message of the book was summed up in the last line, "just like your friend needs you." I would take the message to be that everyone needs a friend. The illustrations were amazing. Henry dreamed of funny animals like skating hippos and short necked giraffes and Colleen did a really good job of illustrating them in a kid-friendly manner. I loved the pictures, they went perfectly with the story line for each page. I wouldn't say there was a strong spiritual message in the book, a few lines toward the end, but it was a good, solid book that I would definitely recommend to others.This book was given to me by Book Look Bloggers for the purpose of reading and writing a review. By Kimmy U My latest review is of the book, "Henry Hodges Needs a Friend" written by New York Times Bestselling Author, Andy Andrews. I do not normally review children's books, but the preschool teacher in me couldn't pass up the chance. BookLook Bloggers sent me a complimentary copy, and I in turn agreed to write this review. First of all, I have to say that the book is beautiful. The illustrations were done by Colleen Madden and they are just perfect for this book. I love color, and this book is filled with all the colors of the rainbow. I love the little details that Colleen adds to each page as it helps to tell the story of "Henry" and his search for his perfect friend. Andy Andrews tells the story of a lonely little boy, named Henry Hodges, and how his parents are going to find him a one of a kind friend (pet), Henry imagines what kind of pet would be perfect for him. A few examples of Henry's friends are a joke-telling beaver, a goldfish with antlers, and a cat that barks. Again, you will love the illustrations of the animals that Henry imagines might be his perfect friend. I also love that the story is written with rhyming words on every page. It reminds me of a Dr. Suess book, which I always find so enjoyable to read aloud. This book is appropriate for younger children as it doesn't have a large amount of text, as well as for your young readers. I highly recommend this book, and I hope to read it to my preschoolers very soon.

I have an HDX and I did learn something plus it was a great way to help me decide if I should buy a new HD.The book is well written and researched. The screen shots are good and help with the explanations.

By Jessica at Cracking the Cover I received my review copy of “Carry and Learn Colors” months ago — so long ago that I almost forgot to review it. When it arrived, I immediately handed it over to my then-10-month-old, thinking she’d give it a quick perusal and then move on to her next activity. Not so! She sat with the book for more than 15 minutes. She loved turning the tabbed pages and feeling the textured animals used to depict colors: red ladybug, orange tiger, yellow fish, green frog and blue butterfly.As the months have passed, the book has remained one of her favorites. She loves to tap, tap, tap the shiny foil lady bugs. The book has seen heavy use, and other than a slim cutout on the frog page that needs to be glued back down, has held up well. There aren’t any flaps to lift, so I do find that a little confusing on the product description, but that’s not enough of an issue to not recommend “Carry and Learn Colors.” It’s a bright sensory book with fun illustrations that I foresee us using for a long time to come.

She can sit with the book and really look at the shiny foil ladybugs or the orange fuzzy tiger for a long time. Touching it, feeling the different textures. Surprised me how she treated this book different than her others. Which she is more interested of putting in her mouth! Good buy!!
