By Reggie Having recently finished reading and enjoying the first book in Paul Wigmore’s The Tapestry Series, I eagerly chose The Weavemaker (The Tapestry Series Book 2) for today’s read.Again, I was hooked on the escapism of reading an entertaining dark adventure with mythological like characters including a dragon and demons.This Tapestry Series continues to grab this reader’s interest. Book 2 has a fast paced story arc and a satisfying end. Even with another stage of the story completed I have a feeling there is more in store for Loretta, Saul and the other character I'm getting to know well. This is a series I’m happy to recommend to read and enjoy now and watch for the next episode.

Vibrant digital vignettes display Mowgli not only surviving but thriving in a wild setting. Moving on to Mowgli's backstory, readers are introduced to villain Shere Khan. Through the tiger's dialogue, readers learn that Mowgli was abandoned in the forest by his parents, and can safely assume that Shere Khan means to harm him-though it is merely evidenced by the way the tiger roars his claims to the child and not explicitly stated in text. Fortunately, Mother and Father Wolf leap to Mowgli's defense and offer him love and protection as adoptive parents. As a young boy, Mowgli is safe and happy in his jungle home, but as he grows, the animals who vowed to protect him age and younger animals rise up to take leadership of the pack. The younger animals are vulnerable to Shere Khan's bad intentions, which puts Mowgli in a position where he must prove himself at a special pack meeting. This retelling is a great beginner version for young listeners as the lush beauty and exciting activities one can enjoy only in the wild are highlighted over the more mature elements of the story, such as abandonment and Shere Khan's plans to kill the child. The dynamic digital cartoon artwork supports this by depicting the jungle animals with large, expressive eyes and soft lines that take the bite out of fearsome features like claws and sharp teeth. The stories are a wonderful length for read alouds. The Jungle Book is, of course, a classic and not in need of a review; however, if your only exposure to the Jungle Book is Disney, please give this a try. I wanted to commend Sterling Publishers on making a quality, affordable edition of this and other classics. The paper quality was nice, not thin or translucent. The font is also pleasant--not to small or cramped. I know this may seem faint praise, but so many classics collections are very poorly executed. The price is also very agreeable--only slightly more than a paperback.

219 of 236 people found the following review helpful. The Real Thing By Rockdoc My favorite books from childhood have always been Milne's "The World of Pooh" and Kipling's "The Jungle Book". Over the years I have purchased many copies of each as presents. Both can be difficult to find in versions unaltered from the original. I have found this to be particularly true in the case of The Jungle Book. Some folks just don't seem to get that Kipling had a pretty good handle on what he was doing. One does not tamper with a Masterpiece.This version is the real thing. It reads word for word the same as the tattered, 40-year-old copy that I first read when I was eight years old. Add illustrations by Robert Ingpen that faithfully capture the emotion of the story and you have a real winner. For those who appreciate The Jungle Book as it was BEFORE it was adulterated by Mr. Disney and friends, this is a very worthy effort.

We have the Disney books and movies at home but since he is an avid reader and I love Rudyard Kipling I thought it was time to find him the real deal and this book is it. I like everything about it, the font type, the illustrations, and the writing is, well... Rudyard Kipling. Beautiful, rich, provocative language that unleashes a child's imagination. My son and I devoured it in a few nights and after we were done it led to a really deep discussion on the differences with the Disney's version. It was a welcomed reminder that we can understimate both our children's capacity to digest the classics and their appeal to them.

An Easter Delight By Kris cool book Easter is cool so are you I like the part the cats hide the eggs and the colored rabbits color the eggs Henrietta is a hen a cute hen the swans are water birds the coloring I this book you thought of brilliant colors in this book cool colors in this book so are the not grown hens are so cute I like the label on top of the book it is a Easter Delight the cutes book I have ever seen so colorful so sweet so cute so good makes me tell my mom to get me more of your books happy Easter so cute still makes me want to sing and dance so sweet so kind and the hummingbird giving its golden egg a why to a hen so cute purple color bunny is cute and everyone is happy so is the hens so cute be better if there was a dog in the story such a good book.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. ~~Birds of a Feather~~ By Off Grid..and Loving it! An adorable story that is just in time for Easter. Henrietta, the mother hen (for lack of a better word!) has been told by Farmer Johnson that there will be 100 children coming for the egg hunt. She begins racing around collecting eggs and realizes they will not have enough. So, being the hen in charge, she decides to call on the ducks, swans and geese for help. She also has to enlist the assistance of the rabbits, the cats and a hummingbird in order to complete their mission.This short story illustrates the importance of working together and being helpful. I thought the drawings were spectacular. I also loved the name of the mother hen, Henrietta. It reminded me of a duck I had when a child that I named Henrietta. Little did I know until much later in life that Henrietta was a male and should have been Henry! Of course, my Mom never made me change the name... Aren't Mothers great?Most highly recommended.

I'm a big fan of Sally Huss books and this one maintains my desire to be a member of her fan club. :) I read them to my granddaughters and know they'll enjoy hearing about Henrietta's friends helping one another. Another good lesson packaged in a colorful, lighthearted, fun book!

3 of 4 people found the following review helpful. and eventually love enters the picture between all parties involved By Catrina Thomas-Jefferson In the blink of an eye, deputy sheriff Seth Hale makes a life changing mistake that alters the course of his life and that of Alena Banner. His actions cost Alena to lose her beloved husband and both of them to have a crisis of faith. Determined to make up for his wrongdoing, Seth decides to look out for Marcus' family, and eventually love enters the picture between all parties involved. However, is that love enough to overcome all of the horror which proceeds it? Does Seth have the strength to forgive himself and to feel worthy of Alena's love, and is her love enough to embrace having a future with the man who cost her everything?The level of faith and godlike love needed by Alena is astounding, and the entire book is so heartfelt that I was emotionally invested in these characters to such an extent that I experienced their every moment of sorrow and joy right along with them.I was deeply moved by this tale of mistakes and loss, of repentance and redemption, of love and the ultimate in forgiveness. Truly, Leila Lacey has written another commendable work.

White cop kills black guy, then falls for the black guy's family. There's a hint of Monster's Ball without the disgusting image of Billy Bob Thorton mounting Halle Berry like a goat.Anywho, I liked the story, but I felt there was a lot of telling you without allowing you to be in the moment with the characters. I wanted to be more invested in each characters plight, but we jumped in time so much with so much description that I didn't really feel engaged with the characters. It was a constant feeling of being told a story by someone else who was on the outside looking in.For instance, Jeffrey's story could've been guessed without having the extra information. Hearing about him through Marcus, Alena, and Hazel would've sufficed. And it would've made his attempt on Seth's life much more unexpected.Alena has been through quite a lot in this book, and it takes so much for her to have to hold on for not only her sake, but her son's as well. Would she have forgiven Seth that easily? Even when he sent her the file, he had lied to her, continuously. That cuts deep, because that also means he lied to her son!With Alena's character, as she is the main character throughout the book, I like her. She's strong and beautiful and despite what she's been through, she will overcome. No matter what she feels at the time of her uttermost grief, she deals.I wish I could've read more of her time with Seth. The build up and subsequently, the rise of his overwhelming guilt for not telling the entire truth as to why she happened to meet him in the first place.As for Seth. Even good men make terrible mistakes, and I think that there were great moments in there showing his overwhelming guilt, especially with what happened to him after the shooting, and their first date. Maybe I read too quickly, but I didn't get a good grasp on what he looked like. For all the description in the book, that didn't stand out to me as much as anyone else.Hazel's character was another that stood out to me, but for a different reason. In many ways, I think her small story line could've helped further the story, but she seemed more like a place holder for when there was a need to keep writing, but not knowing exactly what to write. I mean, she's a complex woman obviously with how she treated her sons and her decisions throughout the story, but it almost seemed as an after thought. She has a history, but maybe there could've been careful consideration on how she said things and what she did because she didn't seem like a woman of many words. More action, and so her breakdown at the end would've been even heavier had the character been able to say just the right things without having to tell the reader why she had a bee in her bonnet about Alena or why she stuck up for Jeffrey no matter what.All in all, even with the typos, I think it's an interesting story. I just wish the characters had been given the chance to tell the story through their actions and not just the author telling us.

If you have not read Ms. Lacey before, this is a good book to introduce you to a very talented writer.The character and events in this book makes you stop and say is this fictional or is she looking into my soul. So many of us struggle with our faith and forgiveness and Lena and Seth are no different. I am trying to stay as brief as possible, because I do not want to give the plot away.However, I will say this; This book will touch those who are struggling with faith and forgiveness. It really takes faith in God to forgive someone who takes the very heart of you-the love of your life. This book is not just a romance novel, but one that will put you back in touch with your spirituality.This is an awesome read and you will not be disappointed.

It has over 400 hypotheticals so you can test your knowledge, discussion questions, charts for practicing attorneys, key points, tons of distinction between the federal rules of evidence and Louisiana rules of evidence explained in detail, and the entire Louisiana Code of Evidence is in the back. It is a text but honestly I think practicing attorneys could get a lot of it. The author makes evidence really easy to understand through the commentary that is reinforced by sentenced that begin with "For example," or "In other words". The cases are a good reference to include in pretrial motions, as they are located in one place under one specific subject, making a fastcase or westlaw search not necessary. AND they are edited so they save the lawyer time. This book is the best evidence book in Louisiana and better than most federal evidence books I have seen. If you want to know evidence better, buy this book.
