It's rare to have a story with such great action and such heart. I read it myself, a middle aged woman, and loved it. There's a love story and action, but nothing too adult for youngsters. There's lessons to be learnt but not given overly moralistically. I will read it soon to my boys ages 6 and 8. A great book for kids to read to themselves ages 11 and up. The illustrations are beautifully detailed. Sure to become a holiday classic.

A holiday theme with all the trimmings readable any day of the year. The main characters face hopelessness to victory with strength, tenderness, love and peace in between. A page turner with imagination inspiring illustrations. My children are adults now but I will buy this book for the children of friends knowing they will love it and keep a copy for myself too!This story encourages the gift of giving!

I never thought I'd care much for a book about Santa- but an adventure-filled origins story? Absolutely! Great for kids and adults, I found myself stuck to this book through to the end. I found it to have a nice flow and appreciated the structure, tone and intelligence of this story. I don't know how old one has to be to appreciate it, but this "grown-up" certainly enjoyed the characters, the history and the humor. Am ordering hard copies so I can give this book to those friends who think they're burned-out on Christmas, as it gives the whole thing a new tone. And, yeah- watch your back Krampus

I can't stop looking at each one and noticing all the little things that makes them so beautiful. Good information too. Adults and kiddos alike will love this book. A true treasure. I use it in my college classrooms to illustrate (no pun intended) the amazing variety of global cultural foundations.

From the very beginning it grabs children’s attention and continues to build excitement while teaching how to bake chocolate chip cookies. The cute facial expressions and bright colors only help keep a child’s attention.The book is very descriptive with each step, but it’s not over done where a child could lose interest such as the gathering of the ingredients/equipment and talking about safety. I liked how the steps are also broken down in a fun way with comparisons that kids can relate too such as swiping off the extra flour with a knife like a “snow shovel.” I also liked how it was encouraged to ask an adult for help.The only thing I wasn’t fond of is that Mimi dipped her finger in raw cookie dough and ate it. Now don’t get me wrong, raw cookie dough is good. However I don't want to encourage my little one to do it so I rather have that part been excluded.Overall, I really enjoyed this children's cookbook. It's very unique and a creative way to help teach baking skills. I recommend this to families who are looking for an engaging cookbook for their young ones.*(I received this children's book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I volunteered to read this with my Great Niece (since I don't have any grandchildren of my own yet). But once I received the book, I didn't want to wait for Addison to be there to read it with me -- so I decided to read it on my own for now. AND OMG -- this is such an awesome book!!!I love the illustrations throughout the whole book -- the bright colors and the cute facial expressions will definitely keep a young child's attention. I also like that the recipe is in the back of the book -- because, knowing Addison, we will be making these cookies just the way that Mimi made hers!!!I received a complimentary copy of Mimi's Adventures in Baking Chocolate Chip Cookies in exchange for my honest review. I can remember making cookies and things with my grandmother as I was growing up. Those are great memories.The main character, Mimi, wants to make cookies with her grandmother. So Nonni helps Mimi get all the ingredients out and they make them together. They have great fun together. And that's what stuck out most to me. The fun they have.The cookies turned out really well. They were quite yummy and all of us loved them! If you're looking for a way to get your kid(s) involved in the kitchen, this book is a great way to start. A Cute Take on a Classic By Jill I'm a Classic student, so when I came across the Mini Myths series I knew I had to give them a read, and I definitely was not disappointed!Make a Wish, Midas! is a contemporary and child-friendly retelling of the familiar Greek myth of King Midas, who wished from the gods that everything he touched would turn to gold to make him rich, only with some complicated results. This story features little Midas who LOVES his yellow paint so much he wants to cover everything with it. It's a cute and relatable tale that kids are sure to enjoy.The illustrations definitely help bring this tale to life. They're simple but charming, and done in such bright colors that it's impossible not to be happy and smile while looking through this board book. It's sure to hold a kid's attention and enamor them to the myth that's being told to them.What I liked best about this book is the last page. The final page of this board book tale is a simplified, kid-friendly version of the original King Midas myth. I think this is fantastic, because it's an approachable way to introduce kids to Classic literature and myth tradition. I'm a student of the Classic, and this concept warms my heart. I think that this book is a must-have for early elementary education teachers as well as parents who want a fun way to get their kids familiar with mythology. The color pops out at you, and the theme here the color yellow. Midas is a cute little boy who cuddles his green stuff toy, a dinosaur. Now yellow shirt, yellow banana, things that looks yellow shows up. Mommy needs to get Midas dressed and he picks out his own clothes. Yes, you guess right, he picked yellow clothes. Now Midas have to eat his eggs (sunny side up yellow yolk) and dinosaur with a yellow banana. Midas grabs his yellow blanket and makes a cape which he runs around with. He wished everything was yellow so he painted Dinoboo his dinosaur yellow. Midas cried after seeing the mistake he had done and said, "No more yellow!! So how does he remedy the problem? Wishy, washy, wishy, washy. Did Midas love the color yellow more than Dinoboo? This story got me smiling and going all gaga at it. The illustration perfect for this story. The quality of the book is perfect too. Fast, easy to read and a joy for a child to comprehend what Midas was doing and what he was about to do. Wonderful read indeed. Perfect for little kids and so easy to understand By Tonja Drecker After reading the other books in this series (again and again and again, thanks to my daughter), I was a little curious to see how the author would handle Midas. Neither I nor my daughter, who's a huge fan of these books, were disappointed. Midas loves yellow and like kids sometimes do, goes to extremes. I found this story so true to life and one that will really hit home, especially when Midas' wish involves his favorite stuffed animal.The author does a fantastic job of introducing even the youngest little readers to mythology. She takes the core of their stories and tells them in a way kids will completely understand...and see some of the characteristics in themselves. At the end, there's a short description of Midas and has experience written in a way kids will easily comprehend. It also opens up to discussions and questions, making kids already become familiar with this part of history and past cultures. .The books are robust (my daughter's treatment of them proves that), colorful and well written.
