2 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Mind-Blowing Backstories! Climactic Cliffhangers! A MUST read!!!!! By Rebecca F. Barringer This fantastic series has yet to disappoint! The adventure continues with even more insight into one of my favorite characters ("Dim") and his backstory is heartwrenchingly complicated in a beautiful way. More revelations on Snow's ancestors and their incredible fairytale weavings leave me astounded at the author's skill. Boley's imagination is extensive, yet still feels so real in the way it is incorporated into the glorious fantasy world. I warn you that this book has a gut-puncher of a cliff hanger that left me seething for not having the sequel yet in print. I seriously cried at loosing some incredible characters (hoping against hope they miraculously survive like "Dim" did in book one!!!) and yelled in frustrated angst at the horrid tangle of predicaments at the end of the novel. The Scary Tales novels totally envelop the reader like no other and, while one part of me doesn't ever want the story to end, I can't wait until Boley reveals how this all works out at the end of the series. Seriously recommend this read -- and all the other tales associated with it!!

This goes beyond a Grimm or fairy tale; it's a visceral and quite grown-up experience. I never imagined the depth these characters could have, but Rob Boley takes them to a whole new level. That Malicious Storm is a terrific read. I never wanted it to end, but instead just wanted to fump around (as the saying goes) and rub bellies with everyone I met. I'm excited to know more about these characters and their bloody adventures. Lastly, can anyone stop Snow??? She's a beast!

By oneswtredhead wow... just wow. i love this series. it is a very dark and grim version of everyone's favorite fairytales. this novel did not leave me disappointed. sadly, my three favorite characters are no more :'(this novel ended in THE BIGGEST CLIFFHANGER EVER!!! i can't wait for the next one. i can't wait to see how this story ends. keep em coming and I'll keep reading them.
