From School Library Journal Gr 2–4—Eight-year-old Archie Morningstar and his dad join Pockets, an agent of the Intergalactic Security Force posing as an ordinary cat, on another crucial mission in space. This time, the trio is dispatched to Nautilus, a planet where most of the inhabitants live underwater. Before setting off, they will need to modify their space taxi to function as a submarine. Once on Nautilus, the team must discover why the water on the planet is suddenly disappearing. If they can't figure out the mystery and reverse the effects, the aliens on the planet won't be able to survive. The humor, introduction to a new alien world, and fast, energetic pacing will keep readers of this early chapter book series engaged. Archie's first-person present-tense narration puts readers right with him as he meets new creatures and has exciting experiences alongside Pockets and his dad. Science concepts related to the story, such as cloud formation and magnetite, are explained at the end. Those looking for a fast-paced, out-of-this-world adventure will want to hail the space taxi for a ride.—Amanda Raklovits, Champaign Public Library, IL

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Budding space investigator tackles watery mystery By Maggie Knapp Archie's dad drives a space cab, and his sister will eat only foods whose names begin with P! Archie and his dad are now deputies in the Intergalactic Security Force, thanks to a very furry talking cat named Pockets. In this second book in the Space Taxi series, the ISF asks for help investigating why the planet Nautilus is losing all its water. They retrofit the taxi for underwater use and with the help of new friends like Salmon, Carp and Pike, investigate the watery mystery. Authors Wendy Mass and Michael Brawer insert occasional big words and basic science principles in a story otherwise laced with elementary school puns and gentle humor. Drawings by Elise Gravel will appear every 10 pages or so. The final art was not seen in the advance reading copy for this review, but judging from the cover and Gravel's website (elise.gravel.com/en) the drawings will be lively, a bit funky, and lots of fun.Suggest this to readers ready for chapter books, looking for some silly (but not completely silly) reading. This is the second book in what appears to be a budding series.About me: I'm a middle school/high school librarian. How I got this book: advance reading copy sent by the publisher
