It wasn't. But that's just me being me. This book had a lot of helpful examples and tips for building self-esteem and maintaining a positive and healthy attitude. I would suggest this book to anyone wanting to become more self-confident or even someone looking to kick bad habits. Thanks Kyarra.

About the Author Sara Pennypacker (www.sarapennypacker.com) was a painter before becoming a writer, and she has two absolutely fabulous children who are now grown. She has written several books, including six previous Clementine stories: Clementine, The Talented Clementine, Clementine's Letter, Clementine, Friend of the Week, Clementine and the Family Meeting, and Clementine and the Spring Trip. Sara grew up in Massachusetts and now divides her time between Cape Cod and St. Petersburg, Florida. I love Clementine, she's such a delightful character with all her idiosyncrasies. Clementine is reluctant to say goodbye to her third grade teacher and so avoids it like the plague. At the same time she juggles her anger at her father, her confusion with her mother's odd 'nesting' behavior, and her friend, Margaret's mother's wedding plans.Clementine is her usual charming self coming up with words like astoundishing to express herself and determined to not speak to her father until he agrees to stop eating meat. She's busy making a gift for Margaret's soon-to-be stepfather, drawing pictures of sad animals for her father, and coming up with names for her coming new sibling.I absolutely adore the relationships that Clementine has with her friends and family. They are far from perfect but it's clear that they love each other despite disagreements and flaws. The interactions between Clementine and her parents are especially endearing and her calling her brother by different vegetable names made me snicker. It's clear that despite her difficulties, Clementine will be just fine with her own enthusiastic spirit and her loving family to help her along the way.Marla Frazee's wonderful illustrations once again give additional life to Clementine's feelings and antics. This series is everything that contemporary middle grade literature should be.

We are big fans of the Clementine series, and have read all of the other books.Completely Clementine marks a turning point for our heroine. After six books, Clementine has finally reached the end of third grade. She is not very happy about this because she doesn’t like when things change. She is not looking forward to moving to a new class because she likes her teacher and her classroom.Meanwhile at home, her mother is pregnant with a new sibling, so Clementine is facing changes on all fronts. And if that were not enough, her father insists on eating meat. Clementine has recently become a vegetarian, and her attempts to dissuade her father from eating meat fail to have the desired impact.So what’s a girl to do when the world around her is changing in ways she can’t control?My daughter and I absolutely loved Completely Clementine. Clementine has a very unique way of looking at the world, and her outlook is charming and refreshing. Clementine is not rude or disobedient, but she is often inadvertently mischievous. This results in many silly situations, and my daughter often laughed so hard as I read out loud to her that we had to stop so she could compose herself. Clementine has a kind heart, and often thinks of other people. She loves her family very much, and she loves her teacher too.I would recommend Completely Clementine, as well as the rest of the Clementine series. The books do not have to be read in order, but I would recommend reading a few of the other titles before reading Completely Clementine. This will give you a better sense of appreciation for the character.

I cant believe they are making book on waylon clementines friend. in This book clementin stops speking to her dad because he is not being a vegetarian like the rest of the family. Clementine continues to draw sad pictures of animals for her dad. (Spoiler alerg coming up!) In the end clemintines mom has her baby early. Clementine has a perfect name for it but wants it to be the first words she will say to her father. She tells her mom to tell her dad that she has something to whisper in his ear.And guess what she wants to name her............SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cute name huh

At first she is reluctant to play with kids who look different than she does, but gives it a try and ends up having a wonderful time. Plus, she finds her life enriched by her new multi-colored friends. The story is a great way to introduce children to the wide world of diverse people who look, talk, and behave differently than they are accustomed to. Ms. Goldenberg’s brightly-colored, unique illustrations perfectly complement the text to keep kids engaged with this fun story that teaches an important lesson. Recommended for children ages 2 to 8, Rainbow of Friendship is a book that preschoolers and early elementary-aged kids (and their parents and teachers) will enjoy at home or in school. The Rainbow of Friendships written by Joni Klein-Higger tells a wonderful story in rhyme about the diverse sizes and shapes in a little red girl’s totally red town. Rainbow Row City with its different colors, is a great way to explain to children that it is safe to play with children that are not the same color or shape. At the same time, it provides an entertaining vehicle to teach this to children. I love the rhyming of the text. This book called out "Read me today." Okay, my attempt cannot match the legendary Green Eggs and Ham or the gifts of storyteller Joni-Klein Higger in her book Rainbow of Friendship, suggested for ages 2-8. With the catchy rhythms reminiscent of Dr. Seuss and the stunning illustrations by Eileen Goldenberg, Rainbow of Friendship promises to become a staple in pre-school and early childhood programs across the country. That this charming, important story sings a message of tolerance is icing on a very sweet cake! I loved it!

It would be great for a child who lost one of their parents and needs some help understanding that being sad is ok as it is to have fun even when you’re sad. There’s a great little stanza in here; "Just tell me where you've gone,whether you're near of far.I'll fly until I find youno matter where you are."I dock it down from 5 stars because while it has rhyming schemes throughout, the author has a few stanzas and lines that don’t rhyme and really bug or throw off the smooth transitioning. But other than that, it’s a great heart felt book.

This title came up in a list of recommended books about children grieving... and though in my 60s, that's exactly who I am right now. Reading about Davey's subtle experiences as he grieves for his mother helps me understand and appreciate what I'm going through.

About the Author John Lyde Wilson (May 24, 1784 - February 12, 1849) was the 49th Governor of South Carolina from 1822 to 1824 and an ardent supporter of dueling. Born in Marlboro County, Wilson studied law in Baltimore and was admitted to the South Carolina bar in 1807. He practiced law in Georgetown and became active in politics by being elected to three non-consecutive terms to the South Carolina House of Representatives. Wilson gained election to the South Carolina Senate in 1818 and was chosen by his colleagues to be the president of the senate. In 1822, the General Assembly elected him as Governor of South Carolina for a two-year term.

Very Facinating History Lesson By Nicholas Alatis I found this very interesting to se how much ephasis we used to put on ones honour and how heavy ones comment could be.We put very little value to the weight of our words in todays culture using "amazing", "facinating", "awesome", "aweful" means little to nothing now. The same can be said of disrespectful comments and the value we put against them

By Ron Braithwaite The author, John Lyde Wilson, claims that this rule book is intended to limit bloodshed while preserving honor. In that Wilson, himself, this statement can be questioned until Wilson's work is compared with the Galway, "Irish Code of Honor" [included in an appendix in the back of this book]. Wilson's work is officious, even legalistic, almost always giving the principles an honorable way of backing down from a potentially killing duel. His emphasis is on the Second's responsibilities both prior to and during a duel. Again the emphasis is on prevention.The Irish Code of Honor is quite otherwise. It annotates a number of ways by which the challenger and challenged are actually morally--almost legally--required to carry out the duel. A number of offenses require the exchange of at least one shot. Some REQUIRE two shots and a few demand three shots, that is if one of the principals is not already badly wounded or dead.A fascinating aspect of Wilson's "Code" is its emphasis on the equality and gentleman's status of the challenged and challenger as well as the seconds, themselves. This was so important that, in some cases, an investigation of the principals and seconds character must be made before even the pre-duel negotiations can continue. Should there be no such equality, there can be no duel. Read it, you won't be disappointed.

Engaging stories, great characters, and a very accurate description of a burgeoning training barn makes these books a treat to read and BF #10 was no exception. What I love the most is that these novels are appropriate for many age groups (teen to adult). I also appreciate that sometimes controversial issues are handled without bias; both sides are depicted, allowing the reader to be educated as well. My only complaint is that I read it too quickly! :) Can't wait for #11!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great Horse/family series. By Susannah St Clair Foxy Loxy This is book #10 in Barbara Morgenroth’s series titled “Bittersweet Farm”. They started with Talia Margolin’s mother dying, her father re-married and then divorced after creating a half sister to Talia, Greer. She also faces the loss of her very special show horse which seemed to be the only stable thing in her life at the time. Talia comes to live at her father’s farm called Bittersweet. She has to learn to reconnect with the man she feels betrayed both she and her mother and to add to this, his very spoiled daughter Greer from his last marriage.All the books read like a very day time horse soap opera and I absolutely love them one and all. Partly because the language about the horse parts is so authentic. When Lockie Malone comes to the first book, “Mounted”, he is a very different kind of trainer than the average show circuit instructor. He wants his students to actually learn to be a horseman.. not just a pretty fixture on a “made” horses back. He is interested in doing what works for BOTH horse and rider. What is good for the horses more than anything. This is one of the main themes running through all the books and I find it delightful for a true teaching tool for anyone interested in having a life working with any form of animal.#10 is a continuation of the life of Talia, Greer, Lockie, Cam, Jules and the wonder dog, Joly. The relationships between these characters runs throughout each book. It’s kinda like monitoring a very creative, interesting and also horsey family. It does, however, take me a bit of time to catch up to these characters when the space between books gets in the way. I almost think having a “character” page at the beginning of each might be helpful.. at least to this old lady! The other thing that can get tricky is the names of all the secondary characters.. I have trouble remembering if they are male or female as they are often shortened such as Cap and Mil.. I only remember Cam is a guy because he is a main character. Even Jules can be mistaken except for being the very heart of the Bittersweet Farm. The Chef extraordinair and very much a woman of taste and warmth.It is hard to wait for each installment I have to say.One of the big things I love about Ms. Morgenroth’s writing is all the extraneous stuff about food, tack, riding in general is so smoothy woven into the narrative that you never feel overwhelmed by so many details. How many books have you read that continually divert to pages of the scenery, things going on not relating to the narrative that you want to yell, “get on with the story”? I have read many . In this series it just works beautifully. The hardest part of reading these books to me was knowing that they were going to end, at least until the author puts pen to paper ( so to speak) again.These books could almost be construed as a guide on how to ride because they are so correct in all the terms and sport usage. The best part is the underlaying gift of the correct way to live your life. Trying to do the “right” thing by people AND animals that you are surrounded by. When the first book begins, another new trainer has come to try to get Greer, Talia’s half sister ready for the big final equitation class and it needs to be done ASAP as Greer will “age out” this year. You have to be under 18 which is a Junior rider in order to compete for it. This is your introduction to Lockie Malone who will change their world forever. His understanding of the minds of the horses he works with and the riders he is trying to teach is almost Buddhist in how it works. He is a young man of deep “presence” who almost died in a 3 day eventing accident which moved his life into a totally different direction that he is trying to learn to live with but while doing so, he is teaching the correct way to understanding the truth about dealing with the emotions the girls have developed that are damaging to live with. With the support of the most incredible cook to grace a kitchen, Jules.. ( very much a mother figure in the series) a father who has finally understood that he needs to be more present in his daughter’s lives and Lockie’s arrival, healing begins for both girls. Greer has a mother, sort of. Talk about the bad witch, this lady fits the bill and Greer’s psyche has paid the price. Her father has been divorced from her mother for several years but during the marriage, he found his true love and they produced Talia, only a year or so younger than Greer. They eventually marry because Talia’s mother is ill and she wants someone to protect her daughter and Andrew loves then both. So then you have Talia losing her mom and coming to live at Bittersweet Farm with her dad and half sister Greer who pretty much hates her. Not a fun scenario for either of them. Here lies the base for the series.I could go on and on because I fell so much in love with the characters that I would want to babble on about them all as each is added into the mix but I will leave it here as the premise for this wonderful series.I am an older adult and I have to say that I felt like I was closing the door on my new “family” when I hit the last period in book eight. I doubt that the author will ever be able to keep up with my desire to read more and come to the two weddings I foresee some day in the future. How about Andrew falling in love with Jules huh?? Our son whom is 10 months old actually somewhat pays attention to the stories now. The illustrations are adorable too! I wish the whole series was available as a padded board book though.
