James P. Simpson is a gifted storyteller whose life embraced some of the most significant events of the 20th century. He is the last survivor of the small team that investigated and prosecuted the forces of organized crime on Galveston Island 50 years ago. His tales of defeating the Maceo gambling empire, without the assistance of local law enforcement, add a colorful chapter to Texas history. His memories of a Depression-era childhood are full of charming and bittersweet moments. Some of the most insightful writing about America's air war in Europe appears in accounts of his 59 bombing missions over France and Germany. Adventure often gives way to misadventure in his hilarious chronicle of life as an FBI agent in Chicago and Minnesota. And as a trial lawyer in Galveston County, Jim Simpson tackles some of the area's most important litigation, enthralling all with his folksy, eloquent voice-in court, in life, and in these pages. James P. Simpson is a retired trial lawyer who now lives in League City, Texas. He is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law and the FBI Academy. In 1957, as Special Assistant Attorney General, he led a small team of investigators who were responsible for closing scores of gambling enterprises, houses of prostitution, and other illicit businesses on Galveston Island, ending decades of organized crime. Geoffrey Leavenworth is the author of Isle of Misfortune, a novel, and the architecture volume, Historic Galveston. His work has appeared in The New York Times, Texas Monthly, Time, and many other publications.

Mr. Simpson is in the best sense of the word a hero across the spectrum of his life. I, as a previous resident of Galveston who benefited from his hard won fight; he has my utmost respect. His story kept my father in his chair from beginning to end, my mother loved his wonderful way of telling the story and the goodness of the man. This is a must read for anyone who wants or is fighting the good fight. I have never been so grateful for one man in my corner of the world.

Wish there were a few more definitions and the back and the index was a little more through. It would be really good to have a math section separate along with the math questions in the back, but I have taken this book everywhere and used often and it's still in excellent condition.

They followed along together really well. Easy to read and understand, concepts relayed really well. I liked the summary reviews of key concepts at the end of each chapter - that and the review questions at the end were great for cramming before the test.

Seaver the Weaver, by Paul Czajak

From School Library Journal K-Gr 2—Seaver is an orb weaver spider who spins to a different tune than his other spider friends. Inspired by the nighttime constellations, Seaver is not satisfied to make circular webs. The other spiders criticize his webs and suggest he learn to make an orb web. But, even though Seaver makes webs in triangles and hexagons and squares, his creations catch more insects than the orbs that the other spiders spin. His creativity is so rewarded with bountiful cuisine that the other hungry orb spiders beg him to teach them his special techniques. This is a great book to reinforce the concepts of shapes or introduce arachnids. The illustrations are filled with serious-faced spiders and delightful nighttime backgrounds with glimpses of the nighttime sky. Enlarged fonts are sprinkled throughout the text, asking the question, "What is that?" in response to each of Seaver's creations. That inventive font is just right and, by itself, brings a smile to readers' faces. VERDICT This sweet book is an excellent choice for children's collections.—Mary Hazelton, formerly at Warren & Waldoboro Elementary Schools, ME

Review Gelett Burgess Children's Book Award Winner for Arts & Letters: Picture Storybooks—PreschoolForeword Review's IndieFab Book of the Year Award Finalist in Children's: Picture Books"This is a great book to reinforce the concepts of shapes or introduce arachnids. That inventive font is just right and, by itself, brings a smile to readers’ faces. VERDICT This sweet book is an excellent choice for children’s collections."—School Library Journal"Ever heard of the publisher Mighty Media Kids? Well, if this book is any indication they might be one to watch. The Brothers Hilts did that lovely little book The Insomniacs a couple years ago and then were never heard from again. This book, about a spider that thinks outside the web, makes good use of their skills. Particularly the parts where Seaver must attend to this 'guest'."—A Fuse #8 Production Blog, School Library Journal"An artistic arachnid named Seaver uses his spidey senses to spin webs inspired by the stars, but his brothers and sisters are less than impressed with his unusual creations. Author Paul Czajak has woven a tale that not only teaches tots about basic shapes but also reminds us all to embrace our differences."—Pregnancy and Newborn Magazine"Using repetition and understated humor, Czajak (the Monster and Me series) reveals that Seaver's innovations are about more than just artistic expression—they also get results. ... It's a stylish and clever ode to the value of trying new things."—Publishers Weekly"...young readers with artistic visions of their own will applaud Seaver's successful paradigm change. A salutary tribute to the benefits of thinking outside the orb."—Kirkus Reviews"The simple, bold illustrations add just the right touch to this storybook celebration of dreams, creativity, and independence."—Children's Bookwatch: April 2015, Midwest Book Review"This book contains so many of the elements that I look for in good children’s literature, including a. a character overcoming an obstacle and being true to themselves, b. the right amount of repetition throughout the story which builds to change in the end, c. GREAT vocabulary words ... The story captures the experience of childhood, when kids are still learning who they are, making the book hyper relatable."—Baby Bookish"I love reading this story to my son at night. It gives us a few laughs, reinforces geometry and important life lessons, inspires some great questions and observations, but makes us feel quiet and content at the end. From the dedication to the last sentence, the whole experience of reading this book feels wholly and perfectly complete."—The Picture Book Review"From the beginning I was drawn in by the richness of color and poignant sentences that spun a story of whimsy and creative artistry. ... Seaver is a strong character and this story will become a all-time favorite. Czajak and the Brothers Hilts definitely scored a touchdown with this book."—Laticia Overton, contributor for Examiner.com"A fun story about being unique and staying true to who you are."—KidsBookshelf"What I especially love about the story of Seaver the Weaver is that kids are introduced to various shapes as they read through the adorable story. So great for preschoolers and early elementary readers!”—The Simple Moms"This book touches on themes of embracing all your differences, being unique and celebrating your individuality, following your dreams. Maybe your own child will look up into the night sky and weave themselves a unique dream of greatness just like Seaver!”—Diapers & Daydreams"Mr. Czajak has written a beautiful book that makes you feel good about being you. Seaver ultimately shows that being unique instead of perfect is a better option.”—This Kid Reviews Books"Seaver the Weaver is written by the same author of the Monster & Me™ books, and he has woven a wonderful web of words. The illustrations are simple, childlike and beautiful. This is a fun book!”—ACS Reader’s Haven ReviewsThe Insomniacs reviews:"These illustrations are my favorite kind—offbeat. This is a good choice for that young reader you know who has very much had it with cutesy, pink, glittery picture books."—Kirkus Reviews"... a touch here of quirkiness ... with Tim Burton as master of ceremonies. But that doesn’t lessen the kooky ... charms of the magnificent pencil-and-charcoal illustrations by the Brothers Hilts, two real brothers, Ben and Sean, who collaborate as a design and illustration team."—The New York Times"The Hilts’ grainy illustrations allow for the eerie ... and the dim ambience challenges human eyesight, yet their inky pared-down palette is enticing. Where most picture books say goodnight, this unusual entry gives the go-ahead to stay up late."—Publishers Weekly

About the Author Paul Czajak got an F with the words "get a tutor" on his college writing paper and after that, never thought he'd become a writer. But after spending twenty years as a chemist, he knew his creativity could no longer be contained. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Seaver the Weaver has the feel of a classic and the heart of a champion By Carrie Charley Brown Seaver the Weaver highlights the efforts of a small orb spider who initiates a unique approach to weaving. Unlike his brothers and sisters, Seaver’s webs are various shapes and sizes and quivering with life. With underlying themes of self assurance, celebrating differences, and perseverance, Paul Czajak’s story is surrounded with positivity. Repeated refrains enhance the storyline and will elicit multiple rereads as the reader fosters a relationship with the text patterns. In tones of midnight blue, gold, pink, soothing greens, and black, The Brothers Hilts accentuate the etched geometric web patterns weaved by the spiders and illuminate the light of the moon. The tiny gentle facial expressions of the spiders invite the reader to form a bond with the characters. Seaver the Weaver has the feel of a classic and the heart of a champion.

Every night hundreds of them spin webs shaped as orbs. But not Seaver. He spins triangles, squares, rhumbas, and other interesting shapes. His siblings scold him every morning when they see these strange webs and say “If you want to be an orb spinner, your web needs to look like ours”. But Seaver is too creative and full of inspiration to be just like everybody else. Will Seaver’s siblings change their tune when they realize his different shaped webs are catching all the nighttime flies? The Brothers Hilts’ palette of black, white and yellows is refreshing and calming. The illustrations are big and bold and simple, but strong. This book touches on themes of embracing all your differences, being unique and celebrating your individuality, following your dreams. Maybe your own child will look up into the night sky and weave themselves a unique dream of greatness just like Seaver!

Beaten, Abused And Neglected…this is the story of a little girl who went through hell but refused to let it break her... "He began to beat me mercilessly...first with his fist, then a chair, and finally an army style boot...As if that were not enough, he retrieved a hammer from the kitchen and hit me in my head three times as I attempted to scurry away. Finally, as I laid there with no strength to actually move, his size 10 work boot came down on my face, crushing my nose..." Emerald had a very hard life growing up. With a very abusive father and a mother who couldn't care less, there seemed to be no escape to her life. The abuse didn't end when she moved out of her parents’ house though. She endured spousal abuse as well. She turned to a life of sin and debauchery as she saw no other way out.

    Beaten But Not Broken

Eventually Emerald found light at the end of the tunnel and turned her life around. What makes this story amazing is not just that she survived all the abuse, it's that she refused to let her past define her and became a very successful woman, completely turning her life around. "The Unbroken Child" is a tale of severe physical abuse, sexual abuse, death and grief but most of all its a story about a little girl who went through hell and not only survived, but became a stronger and better person because of it. This is the story of a little girl who refused to be broken, no matter how bad her circumstances became. This book will make you laugh, cry and get angry but most importantly, it will inspire you and show the strength of the human spirit. Buy the book today and read the incredible story of Emerald Mack, never before released to the public.

At each stage of her transformation I would remember parts of my past and how I evolved. I was hooked when I read "We teach men how to treat us by what we accept and we give them permission to be deadbeats in our lives because we allow them into our personal spaces that way". This is an excellent book and I recommend it to everyone.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. There is no way I can say I loved this book. I do say it was hard to put down & I would be a poorer person, had I not read it. By Linda Compton Have you ever wanted to honor a request, and yet you dreaded the imagined emotional cost? I felt like that when I knew I wanted to say yes to the request of a new friend. He asked us to read this book. I read the title again, fearing the terror, blood, confusion, betrayal, utter vulnerability and wounds I would find strewn across the pages. Way before arriving at the forgiving part. The Unbroken Child: A Little Girl’s Struggle to Survive. A Father’s Wrath. A Woman’s Power to Forgive, by Emerald Franklin. How does one dare comment on the holy ground of another’s candid and sacred story? How can one hope to acknowledge the courage, and commend the growth with utmost respect? There is no way I can say I loved this book. I do say that it was almost impossible to put down, once I began reading it. And that I would be a poorer person, had I not read it. Pain and admiration make a strange pair, yet that is what I often felt. And sadness. There was wrenching sadness. Yet like most stories about lives of unfathomable struggle and real faith, sadness does not have the last word. Something infinitely more powerful, more lasting does. Even triumphs. I Corinthians 13:12-13 is what comes to mind:“For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood. So faith, hope and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”In many ways this book was too close to home. It was too much and it was just right. Never easy, yet truly worth it. Talk about ripping the veil off of lies and secrets by an uncommon level of transparency. This is a telling transformation story from a brave and courageous lady, Emerald Mack that has experienced "true liberty" from her past..Emerald expresses the kind of freedom in her story that says "I am NOT my past, I am not what happened to me nor am I what I did to others". I truly believe that her life story will inspire and help others who want to be free. There's no stopping Emerald now!

Since Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra shared their story of teen pregnancy and adoption on the MTV's 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom, they've been known for their inspiring commitment to growing up right. Between their experience placing their first daughter for adoption, and their struggle to cope with problems in their families, Catelynn and Tyler were challenged in every imaginable way. But against all odds, the childhood sweethearts rose above the dysfunction to become responsible adults whose story has inspired many others.

How did two troublemaking kids from the trailer park make it through the storm of family dysfunction, teen pregnancy, and adoption without letting go of each other? What gave them the strength to conquer the chaos of their lives and go on to become people their children could be proud of? And what really happened when the cameras weren't there?

Now, in their debut book, Catelynn and Tyler tell the story in their own words ... and they leave nothing out. From the wild behavior that went down before MTV to their experiences learning and teaching about adoption, Catelynn and Tyler lay it all out on the table. Open, honest, raw, and real, Conquering Chaos is an incredible look at two young people who beat the odds and used their victories to give hope to others.

23 of 25 people found the following review helpful. needed more By ReadingGrrl I loved Catelynn and Tyler's very real story of adoption on MTV. It wasn't sugar coated, you saw the pain. the hardship, and the strength it took to place their baby for adoption. This book covers their earlier years and a little of the adoption journey.Tyler definitely doesn't hold any punches and tells things like it is. Their childhood was not all sunshine and roses and their story could have turned out very differently. The pregnancy seems to have been the wake up call they both needed to get their lives on a different path and break the cycle of addiction, teen parenting and dysfunction in their families. With the support of only one parent each and the other set actively fighting against them, they managed to make it through a very difficult decision and seem to have gone on to help others. They give speeches about their struggles and their time on MTV has helped bring new awareness to adoption, the adoption process and how it is not like it was years ago. It also helps to dispel a lot of the myths surrounding adoption and the rosy or sometimes downright nightmarish way adoption can often be portrayed in film and on tv.I liked this book but I wish it had been more. While it gives a good insight and perspective into the lives of birth parents and reasons why they made the decision they did it didn't give me enough about what has gone on since. Yes they finished high school but that's about all I know. I wish it had given me more on how they have pulled themselves out of the situations they were in. Did they go to college? I know they aren't married yet are having an other baby, how long has it been since they placed their daughter for adoption?I also found the book to be a bit repetitive in places. Each chapter has an introduction, the story from both Catelynn and Tylers perspectives and then a conclusion which is just a summary of everything that was just said which could have been eliminated and made the book flow a little better. All in all though I think that this is a good read for anyone who feels they are stuck having to repeat the past or is starting to notice that they are on their way to repeating a cycle in their family that has been passed down for generations. There is hope, there is a way out. It may not be easy, it may not feel comfortable but it can happen.

A Great Inside Look To Catelynn and Tyler's Personal Life & Life Together By Courtney Pies I have been a huge fan of Catelynn and Tyler since they were on Teen Mom. They are a great couple who have gotten through so much - and this was even more evident after reading Conquering Chaos. They have certainly started from the bottom and have made it to the top. They are such a great couple who I am even prouder to support now.Whether you have watched Teen Mom from the beginning or not, I recommend reading Conquering Chaos to get an inside gimpse to both Catelynn and Tyler's life before and after they became a couple.

I was one of the lucky ones and grew up with loving parents and two sisters. They are all in Heaven now, but the lessons I learned from them are deep in my heart. I admire both of you for giving Carly and her adopted parents such a gift. I know it wasn't easy. Congratulations on your new baby. I pray for you and God bless you. I recommend this book for everyone.

Book 3 -- Snake Avenue: The Cold Case of Virginia Brooks. This third book in The Colder Case Series details the facts surrounding the similar murder of little Virginia Brooks in 1931. Her body was found dumped in a barren mesa near San Diego, like the five little bodies that were found in the Angeles mesa. Her cause and manner of death was similar. She was the same age and race. Her murder could have been committed by the same man, or men, that killed Nina and May Martin six years earlier and then murdered Melba and Madeline Everett and their friend Jeanette Stephens six years later. The investigators did all they could with the science available to them, and tried so hard to follow trace evidence it is now a fascinating look into the history of forensic science, including entomology and horticulture. Join the factual hunt for the most cunning serial killer of the 20th century, one who was never caught, one who was happiest when someone else was convicted of his murders.

The Colder Case Series will not stop until the killer is tracked down in the last book.

Snake Avenue: The Cold Case of Ten-year-old Virginia Brooks (The Colder Case Series) (Volume 3), by George Sherwood

From the Author In The Colder Case Series, Uncivil Twilight is the 1925 case about the trial of S.C. Stone for the murders of the Martin sisters. Colder Case is the 1937 case and the trial of Albert Dyer for the murders of Melba and Madeline Everett and their friend Jeanette Stephens. Snake Avenue is a similar 1931 case about the murder of Virgina Brooks in San Diego, which is still unsolved. In the Court of Deadly Assumptions is about another 1937 case, the trial of Samuel Elmore for the murder of Joan Kuleba. There was no intention of writing more than Colder Case, but research revealed too many similar murders of children and they had to be followed. None of these are light, entertaining reading.  They are real cases with gruesome facts as reported in the news and official records. The testimony can be difficult at times and that made these cases more vulnerable to wrongful convictions because of the demand for swift punishment.

About the Author Sherwood was compelled to this research. In his Moral Panic, Philip Jenkins, without naming any names and without any further explanation, alludes to the Albert Dyer case as the "pied piper" murder case that the media "mistakenly, blamed on a 'degenerate' with a series of convictions for morals offenses against children," (p 51.) Who? What? Where? When? How? It was that mystery that sparked the research that almost immediately revealed the sister's parents did not believe the "pied piper" theory. The parents of the three girls did not attend his execution but a police officer uncle did. So it began.

I felt that I was able to get into the actual investigation and was frustrated at times that the police didn't investigate some suspects more thoroughly. However, since this case never had a person arrested and tried, there wasn't as much information available. The author had to rely on newspaper articles. I believe that this case would be solved today with all the modern day forensics and investigative skills available. I think the author did identify the killer and/or killers in his last chapter.

Odd, Weird & Little, by Patrick Jennings

From School Library Journal Gr 3–6—Toulouse Hulot, a new kid in school from Quebec, wears dapper outfits, carries a briefcase, and even uses a quill pen to write his lessons. He is a talented painter and musician, an accomplished fly fisherman, and the victim of the class bully and his henchman. His only friend is Woodrow, who shares his love of fishing and finally becomes the one to stand up to the mean kids and ultimately see Toulouse for who he really is. Woodrow is a most unlikely narrator, one who embraces his own nerdiness and stammers through most of his conversations. Fans of Jennings's Guinea Dog (Egmont USA, 2010) will find this a delightful book, one that stands with classics such as Avi's Poppy (Orchard, 1995). A remarkable story and a great read-aloud.—Wayne R. Cherry, Jr., First Baptist Academy Library, Houston, TX

From Booklist Despite, or maybe because of, the concealing gloves and bowler hat that enigmatic new arrival Toulouse Hulot wears to school every day, 10-year-old outsider, Woodrow, is compelled to be his friend. The two discover shared interests both in fly-fishing (though Toulouse’s catches never seem to make it into his creel) and in coping with the attentions of class bullies Garrett and Hubcap. Jennings never comes out with an explicit revelation, but readers would have to be comatose to miss the huge clues—from the first letters of the title words and all the chapter headings on—that Toulouse is no ordinary, or even human, student. Eventually, separate confrontations by Toulouse and, later, several classmates cow the bullies with unrealistic ease. Still, in general the modeled coping strategies are at least feasible, and as for Toulouse, the continuing cluelessness of all the grown-ups and children (even Woodrow doesn’t grasp the truth about his predatory buddy until the end) add broad overtones of hilarity. Grades 3-5. --John Peters

About the Author Patrick Jennings blasted onto the children's book scene with his critically acclaimed Faith and the Electric Dogs, which received many starred reviews and is now in film development. Known for his wide range of topics and styles, he has turned his focus to writing silly accessible stories that will appeal to middle-schoolers, including his recent Egmont releases, Guinea Dog and its sequels, Guinea Dog 2 and 3, Lucky Cap, Invasion of the Dognappers, and My Homework Ate My Homework. A former resident of San Francisco and Bisbee, Arizona, Jennings now lives in Washington State. You can visit him at www.patrickjennings.com.

7 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Fun Magical Realism, (Really), for Middle Graders By Pop Bop This is a very deeply cool little book, and much more than a school daze comedy. Woodrow is a decent kid - bright, insightful, good hearted and level headed. He is generally acknowledged to be the weirdest kid in his class, (which feels middle schoolish), but mostly just because he's shy and has a few minor obsessions, (like always carrying around duck - don't call it "duct" - tape). That, however, is enough to earn him the attention of the class bullies and the disdain of the girls and the popular kids. But then, a new kid, Toulouse, joins the class. Toulouse is so deeply idiosyncratic and unique, so weird, that Woodrow realizes that Toulouse will be the weird kid and the lightening rod for abuse. The problem is that Woodrow wants a friend, would be a good friend, and finds himself getting close to the otherwise isolated Toulouse. As Woodrow notes, in a classic example of middle school logic, that means that instead of escaping attention Woodrow will just get double attention for befriending Toulouse and being doubly weird. The plot of the book, if you want to call it that, follows Woodrow and Toulouse and their adventures as their friendship grows. But the book is much more than just that. Here's the special part. While Woodrow belongs to the honorable tradition of bright, rueful outsider middle school narrators, Toulouse is an appealing one of a kind character, the likes of which I have never before encountered. He most resembles a middle school version of Chauncey Gardiner, the ethereal, enigmatic center of Jerzy Kosinski's novel "Being There". Toulouse is smart, accomplished, old fashioned and somehow both firmly grounded and surreal. He is, almost literally, odd, weird and little. He is both firmly present and yet also oddly distant and almost otherwordly. As a result parts of this book play out as realistic school humor while other parts feel like a fable, or an elegant feather-light allegory about difference and acceptance. The writing is literate, accomplished, restrained and focused. The author can do raucous classroom humor, subtle deadpan humor, and delicate observational and descriptive passages that would put writers of adult oriented literature to shame.Blurbs for this book mention Andrew Clements, Dan Gutman, Gordon Korman and Tom Angleberger. That's fair in the sense that they are all accomplished in this genre, and "Odd, Weird & Little" is at least equally as accomplished. But it also expands the boundaries by introducing a character like Toulouse and something that approaches middle school magical realism. How's that for an achievement? So, an intriguing change of pace that offers special rewards to adventurous readers. Definitely worth a look. Please note that I received a free advance ecopy of this book in exchange for a candid review. Apart from that I have no connection at all to either the author or the publisher of this book

It's the first I've read by author Patrick Jennings and is about a little owl called Toulouse Hulot. Toulouse joins a new school after moving from Quebec, much to the fascination of his classmates. He wears a suit and tie, glasses, carries a briefcase and is one of the cutest book characters I've ever come across.Woodrow is the only person in Toulouse's class who really gives him the time of day, and the two quickly become friends, despite all Toulouse's oddities. Themes of bullying and individuality are both at the forefront of this book, and learning to be happy with yourselfas you are, no matter how strange people might think you are.Odd, Weird & Little is an important book for children of all ages, thanks to its themes and issues explored. It's also one of the cutest books I've read, and that's all down to Toulouse and his small owl body. Aww. I want one of him for myself! Actually, what I want to do is read the book again, so I think I'll go and do that. It's a quick read but such a brilliant one - do check it out if you get a chance!4.5/5

It's themed on bullying, but in quite a gentle way. It is from the perspective of a child, which is cute and pure. However, it lacked suspense or tension and there wasn't much depth to the story. It's quite an easy read, and probably good for reluctant readers. However, I think that more avid young readers would find it boring and flat as a story.

My copy of "Wonder Woman: An Origin Story," by John Sazakalis (it's spelled "Sazaklis" on the cover) and Luciano Vecchio, just arrived so I read it immediately. It's beautifully illustrated and presents a thorough version of who Wondie is and how she came to be. There are discussion questions in the back of the book, and a glossary for some terms. However, they use "Themyscira" instead of "Paradise Island," certainly not a great choice for kiddie readers. Also, the Amazons are termed "warriors," and the Contest (as unfortunately usual) is presented as an all-sports event, no brain work involved. (Not anything like I've ever thought it should be.) When Diana battles Ares, she says, "Your power comes from hate, but my power comes from love. And that is much stronger!" Then she defeats him with a kick. Love = fighting prowess. If one loves, one punches. Hm.(There's a nice sequence of her getting two armies to stop fighting by talking with each other.)Diana's powers come not from Amazon Training, but from the gods: Athena, Aphrodite, Hermes… and Zeus, not Hercules. The only thing we see Diana training in, is etiquette to be a princess. Not that crown princesses have to be trained in how to lead, how to run a country, how to listen to their people and solve problems, how to balance a country's budget, etc. Ah, Disney (and so many others), how you have affected the way we think of princesses! They just sit around, smile and drink tea with outstretched pinkies.I laughed when Diana asked, "Why send one of my sisters [to the outside world] when I am the best?" Also gave a LOL when the story turned very vague as to what kind of job Diana got when she took on her Di Prince ID. I understand. The mythos changes every few months, it seems. It's difficult to keep up with it.Still, it's a story kids can follow easily. They meet Cheetah, Giganta, and Circe (nice definition of her magic!) in addition to everyone else. Philippus, Menalippe, and Artemis are present, though none are named. Biggest plus: Steve Trevor is nowhere to be found!

I had trouble finding a book that is about just Wonder Woman. and not the Justice League. There needs to be more books like this for young girls.

This has a lot of Wonder Woman related stuff packed in it, from Hippolyta to the Invisible Jet to her villains like Cheetah, Ares, and Circe. There's even a two-page spread of Diana Prince doing the spin-transformation into Wonder Woman. The only beef I have with this book is that it left out a crucial part of Wonder Woman's history -- Steve Trevor and his crashing onto Paradise Island. I'm also not a huge fan of the Justice League animation style they used.
