Collectors almost killed my father and forced me to grow up without a dad! Don't let the government or the IRS steal your sovereignty away from you!

Put simply, your sovereignty is under attack. You don't need the red pill to see it because you've already been unplugged. It's all around you. Within this audiobook lies top secrets known only to the FBI and a few law enforcement agencies: How to disappear in style and retain assets. How to switch up multiple identities on the fly and be invisible such that no one; not your ex, not your parole officer, nor even the federal government can find you. Ever.

The Invisibility Toolkit is the ultimate guide for anyone who values their privacy or needs to disappear. Whether you're running from stalkers or hit men or overzealous cops or divorce courts, you owe it to yourself to learn how to protect your greatest asset: you and your family!

But be warned. Going incognito is dangerous and for that, you need a dangerous book. This book is one the NSA doesn't want you to listen to! It's stuff you won't see in any James Bond or Bourne film or even Burn Notice. But if you love freedom, this book is mandatory listening, because it's lifesaving listening. You'll learn:

  • How to disappear using CIA counter-surveillance techniques in the Far East
  • How to wear a perfect disguise
  • How to bring down a drone
  • How to be invisible in Canada, Thailand, China or the Philippines
  • How to use Darkcoins on the run
  • How to fool skip tracers
  • How to sneak into Canada
  • How spies use networking to be anonymous
  • Edward Snowden's biggest mistakes
  • The fallacies of True Lies
  • Opsec in foreign countries, and much more!

You've got just two choices: live free on your feet or as a slave on your knees. Let me show you how to break those chains.

I bought it because it sounded intriguing, never thinking I wouldn't get anything done today because I just could not put it down. Having lived in Ontario and Louisiana, I can attest to the accuracy of his observations, including those of going through US/Canadian customs. Great advice for many areas of one's life, especially if you have never taken your privacy seriously.

This guy is talking like I'm supposed to know what he is talking about. Well I don't. I'm at 37% and I am completely lost. He seems to be actually talking about darkness. I'm baffled.(The story about his creepy old lady neighbor was chilling).

In twelve short chapters, we see different animals in various states of anger. Some try to understand their anger, some try to tame it, while others let their anger overwhelm them. These stories are funny and wry, but also offer a gently profound reflection of the nature of human emotions.

The Day No One Was Angry (Gecko Press Titles), by Toon Tellegen

From School Library Journal Gr 2–5—Handsomely produced on thick paper with full-color, expressive illustrations by the popular Parisian illustrator, cartoonist, and graphic artist, this collection of 12 stories is billed as being "funny" and "philosophical," showing that "anger—in all its shapes and sizes—is essential, spirited, and often hilarious." A hyrax is frustrated and angry every evening when the sun sets, despite his yelling until he is hoarse, "Don't set!" A determined elephant attempts to climb a tree even though an inner voice discourages him. He almost reaches the top but trips and falls. "I'm a lost cause," he admits to himself as an enormous bump appears on the back of his head. An earthworm and a beetle argue over which of them is angrier. From his suitcase, a lobster shows a mouse all of the different types of anger he has for sale—from mild irritation to jealousy and fury. The mouse decides to purchase the light blue, transparent melancholy instead. A shrew unsuccessfully tries to make his friend squirrel angry. Ant suggests all sorts of ways that toad can get rid of his anger—blow it away, crush it, forget about it, swallow it, hide it, sing it away, laugh it off, or nurse it. And, when the day comes when all traces of anger seem to have disappeared, the animals don't know what to do and the ant "fears the worst." But when a cricket accidentally kicks Rhinoceros's knee, angry words return and "everyone went home promising themselves a good bout of anger that night." This is not the way that typical American picture books have explored anger for children, and much of the subtle humor and emotional truths will be elusive to them, even with adult intervention. VERDICT More age-appropriate picture books that address the topic are Rachel Vail's Sometimes I'm Bombaloo (Scholastic, 2002), Linda Urban's Mouse Was Mad (HMH, 2009), and Molly Bang's When Sophie Gets Angry—Really, Really Angry (Scholastic, 1999).—Rachel Kamin, North Suburban Synagogue Beth El, Highland Park, IL

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. A really brilliant book, amazingly illustrated by Marc Boutavant By Tony Ruth A really brilliant book, amazingly illustrated by Marc Boutavant, who's always spectacular, but the writing is really beautiful as well. Truly the best book in our kid's library and we put some effort into our kids' book collection. It's sad, and moody, and very much unlike most other kid's books that we have. Both our girls love it, they are very curious about what each animal is feeling in each different story, they think it's funny that a grasshopper can elbow a rhinoceros and annoy him, and they always want us to read all twelve stories at once (the only downfall of this book is not always being up for an hour of reading) but it's easy to jump around and only read a few at a time.I'm not entirely surprised to see that someone rated this book 1 star as it's a serious departure from most saccharine, reassuring, predictable children's books - which is sadly the majority of what you find at most retailers. If that's your style, this book isn't for you. My father in law is a great guy and he clearly thought this book was crap, so it takes all kinds.Anyway, I'm buying five more copies for all our friends' kids this Christmas. Only criticism is that like 80% of all kids' books every single animal is a dude, even though gender is irrelevant to the stories. Ho hum, not amazing for our girls, but in all other ways wonderful.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Four Stars By Lindsey Hasford We really like this author! Simply delightful.

0 of 3 people found the following review helpful. The worst children's book I have ever read By jgh Without a doubt the worst children's book I have ever read. 11 stories that make little sense, and are little more than angry rants, followed by the 12th.. a story where anger goes away and all the characters are gloomy and uncomfortable.. until they are able to show anger again. The moral of the book seems to be that, if you are not angry there is something wrong and you should be angry. We have read only 4 of the 12 stories before throwing it in the bin. A friend was also gifted this book, he has done the same. I have no idea what the author was thinking, or how this was ever published.

In most windows I saw people working and children playing. When the soldiers came, people began covering their windows, so I couldn't see inside anymore. But the tiny attic window of the narrow brick house behind Otto Frank's business offices had no shade. For a long time the rooms were empty. Then one day, Otto's whole family came to live there. They called their new home the Secret Annex...

A story of Anne Frank, who loved a tree and the tree who promised never to forget her.

This book is co-published with the Children's Museum of Indianapolis, chosen by the Anne Frank Center as the first U.S. recipient of a sapling from the tree outside of the Secret Annex window (the tree is the narrator in the book).

Anne Frank and the Remembering Tree, by Sandy Eisenberg Sasso

Review "The Remembering Tree is steeped in the notion of radical empathy. The book concludes with "the promise of two young girls who loved a tree and the tree who remembered them." In Sasso's lyrical and moral vision, Anne Frank's beloved chestnut tree serves as witness, persona, and educator. This gentle, powerful book deserves to be a classic work about tolerance for children and educators of all faiths." --Amy Gottlieb, Tikkun Daily

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Great History Lesson on a Difficult Topic By Judy B. Beautifully written and illustrated. As a teacher, I have found it difficult to explain the injustices and evils of the Holocaust to young children. This book illustrates how prejudice and bullying of any group is harmful to all. The world was not a happy place. Through the eyes of a beloved chestnut tree outside the secret annex of the Franks, we learn about the injustices done to innocent people and the few who tried to help. The children have responded with many questions and thoughts about Anne Frank and her family. It has given me the opportunity to discuss so many issues that are as relevant today as they were during the Holocaust. The kids are particularly interested to learn that the saplings from the tree that was so special to the Frank girls have been or will be planted around the world as a reminder of the importance of tolerance and respect for all.

The illustrations are gorgeous (as are the illustrations in all of this writer's books) and the story was incredibly touching. My little guy is not old enough to appreciate the lesson but he loves looking at the beautiful photos. I look forward to reading him this one once he's old enough to understand and appreciate the lessons as well.

2 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Great book, excellent teaching tool for parents. By Steven Holinstat Beautiful story, perfectly told for little readers. This is not an easy topic to talk about with children and this book is a perfect way to explain the most terrible history lesson. As a Jewish mom, and the daughter of a survivor myself- I'm happy to have another tool to teach my kids... Never forget what happened.

Randomly looked here and found this comic. It's part of the Tinkerbell series and it completely adorable. The pictures are beautiful and it reads like the movie. Perfect for any collection.

A few scenes are missing but that’s to be expected with the limited space that this format requires. I hope this graphic novel series continues to follow the adventures of Zarina and her friends even though, according to rumor, the Tinker Bell movies have come to an end.

This new edition continues the emphasis of prior editions on such topics as the relationship of local governments to state and federal governments; the needs of local governments for territory, for personnel, and for adequate financing; and the principal activities and possible liabilities of local government. There is increased attention to land use control, an area of growing activity on the part of institutions, ranging from the U.S. Supreme Court to local zoning boards. This includes material not found in some books in this field, on such important concepts as “smart growth,” “new urbanism,” and “regulatory takings.”

By The Invisible Pam I'm a mom that has fairly restricted space when it comes to new books (we have too many!) and so we tend to use the library A LOT, and I tend to like books that have 'lasting power', which is to say that they can be used for a wide age group/a long time."A Butterfly is Patient" falls into this long lasting group. It's really lovely, with great illustrations, which is important when it comes to grabbing the attention of little-folk, and it has enough science, cleverly put, that it will be useful for the elementary years as well. The book really covers all aspects of a butterfly's life: from egg to adult, as well as what the insects eco-niche is, and how it protects itself from predators....The only shortfall I could find is that there wasn't a map to show off the huge migratory pattern of the Monarch. But other than that small flaw, it's awesome and worth considering for the home or school shelves.Pam T~mom/blogger

We study the life cycle of butterflies every year, so I look for new material to add to the unit to keep it fresh. The artwork is detailed and gorgeous. The words are informative and thoughtful.I was so pleased with it that I ordered the authors other 2 books, An Egg is Quiet and A Seed is Sleepy.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Prison procedural with good action By Penelope Schmitt A compelling procedural read with a twist--the author, a veteran himself of many years of prison ministry, departs from the usual genre fiction focusing on an unjustly imprisoned person, suffering in a snake pit of an institution. Instead, we are inside the daily processes followed by an administrative staff who are sincerely trying to do a good job in a most extremely fallen world. Do psychopaths live here? Yes. Do murderers? Yes. Do the workers and administrators have serious flaws? Indeed they do. Some are drinkers, some corrupted, burned out, lazy and cynical. Yet the author strives to imagine what could be the result if a 'critical mass' of people working under decent leadership, and within a well-designed program had the keeping of a prison. A BIG if? Indeed, but worth imagining. We feel the mounting suspense as an inspection designed to go like clockwork, putting the institution's best face forward, marches ahead even as a prisoner makes infinitely patient moves toward an explosively violent escape. A telling feature of the story is how much use the prisoner makes of the anger management and impulse control skills he has been taught in an attempt to rehabilitate him. The plot moves inexorably toward that moment when it seems that everything that can, WILL fall apart -- involving a whole community and not just the inmates of the prison. I really liked the way the daily work and interactions of the staff, prisoners, and community members are delineated in the action. Anyone who has worked in a tightly run organization will feel the rhythm of the work take on a real feeling life.I found it quite a page turner. There's the making of an interesting series here, from a different viewpoint--spiritual as well as socially aspirational. Father Frank, the character whose viewpoint is at the moral center, is able to see and know prisoners, staff and members of the surrounding community not from the 'them' or 'us' perspective, but as people with interior lives he views with unsentimental pastoral wisdom and realism. There's a prayer in the Book of Common Prayer (Anglican) that starts something like "Lord, visit our prisons with your pity and judgement..." It's a good balance for a real world. Father Frank brings both pity and judgement.Given the financial and administrative mismanagement and corruption and the creative criminality of those behind bars in our overcrowded prisons, the warehousing of the mentally ill, aged offenders, and petty criminals alongside dangerous people, there's plenty of room for a different perspective on corrections. I think the author could be onto something really interesting. I hope this is the first incident in an unfolding story.

Gripping tale By Dr. M Written by an retired episcopal priest, the book is a well-knit story detailing the dark insides of a prison system with stresses on both sides, both the correction officers and those we purport to correct. The writing style is superb and you feel like you are actually watching the show play out in front of your eyes. You learn about the system through a wonderfully told story. Reminds me of books by Arthur Hailey, author of famous books like Hotel and Airport etc. I loved it!

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. For those interested in prison reform By Natalie Vellacott I am reviewing this book for the Christian Books Only Review Group on Goodreads. The criteria is that the books are basically clean and with a Christian world view. This book started off well and gained my interest because of the subject matter; prison reform. The author has an idea for prison rehabilitation which may or may not work in practice but it is an interesting idea. However, this book is in need of editing with a special focus on the grammar and punctuation which in some places made the book hard to read and follow. There were numerous characters in the book; imagine trying to describe the everyday events inside a basic prison if you included every detail of the lives of every person. That is basically what the author has tried to do. The result; a lot of quite uninteresting sub story lines that don't keep the attention of the reader. The main storyline was of a serial killer who hatches an escape plan. This was interesting and to be honest was the only reason I kept reading as I wanted to see what happened...but the escape attempt fell flat despite the build up and I was disappointed. The build up to the escape was well written and developed.I would have given this book a higher rating but for the profanity including strong blasphemy throughout. I cannot understand why a Christian author (especially a Reverend) would include this in a book of fiction where he could easily choose to substitute these words for something less offensive. It's not as if he needs to be true to actual events. I was also concerned by a few scenes of graphic violence and sexual content although this was minimal.I would not recommend this book to Christian readers purely due to the profanity. An okay book for a secular audience wanting to see prison reform through social improvements.

PDF Ebook Online Adam Mansbach - Go the F**k to Sleep and You Have to F**king Eat 2-in-1 Collection, by Adam Mansbach

Go the F**k to SleepGo the F**k to Sleep is a bedtime book for parents who live in the real world, where a few snoozing kitties and cutesy rhymes don’t always send a toddler sailing blissfully off to dreamland. Profane, affectionate, and radically honest, it captures the familiar―and unspoken―tribulations of putting your little angel down for the night. Beautiful, subversive, and pants-wettingly funny, Go the F**k to Sleep is an audiobook for parents new, old, and expectant. You probably should not play this for your children.

You Have to F**king EatEmmy Award-winning actor Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Malcom in the Middle) follows in the exasperated footsteps of Samuel L. Jackson, giving voice to the long-suffering father whose indifferent child will just not eat in this hilarious follow-up to Adam Mansbach's international bestseller, Go the F**k to Sleep. Mansbach's long-awaited sequel is about that other great parental frustration: getting your little angel to eat something that even vaguely resembles a normal meal. Profane, loving, and deeply cathartic, You Have to F**king Eat breaks the code of child-rearing silence, giving moms and dads (new, old, grand-, and expectant) a much-needed chance to laugh about a universal problem. Anchored by a hilarious performance from Cranston, You Have to F**king Eat is the perfect blend of talented voice actor and subversive fun that expertly captures Mansbach’s trademark humor. Due to its explicit language, you probably shouldn't play this one for your kids.

Of all the miracles of life, it is life's persistence that astounds the most. In the endless black of the deepest caves, blind fish find their way. In a frozen forest, snow monkeys find a cozy hot spring to keep warm. Even in the salt desert's barren cold, flamingoes bloom like vivid flowers. The 14 animals in this book defy the odds and make their homes in the unlikeliest of places—under the weight of seas, in the belly of tar pits, in the sandstorm's mouth.

A Strange Place to Call Home: The World's Most Dangerous Habitats & the Animals That Call Them Home, by Marilyn Singer

From Booklist Why would some animals choose to live in extreme heat, cold, dryness, or darkness? Fourteen poems celebrate the unusual animals that have adapted to equally unusual habitats where competition is lighter and safety from predators is greater. Humboldt penguins burrow eggs along the dry coasts of Chile and Peru rather than riding on ice floes; snow monkeys stay warm by huddling in hot springs rather than swinging from trees; and ice worms wriggle beneath glacial ice rather than soil, aided by their natural antifreeze. Other poems, including the styles of free verse, rhyming, haiku, triolet, villanelle, and terza rima, describe the adaptations of blind cave fish, mudskippers, mountain goats, and petroleum flies. The final poem, “City Living,” shows adaptation in progress as red foxes adjust to urban sprawl. Young’s textured paper collage illustrations help evoke some of the planet’s seemingly less hospitable locales. Endnotes offer more information about each animal as well as the poetry forms used. This enlightening collection brings beauty and respect to strangeness. Grades K-3. --Angela Leeper

Rutabaga the Adventure Chef: Book 1, by Eric Colossal

From School Library Journal Gr 2–4—Rutabaga is on the prowl for adventure, but not the kind that most knights and warriors yearn for. As an adventure chef, Rutabaga, along with his magical walking kettle, Pot, explores magical lands and looks for rare ingredients and exotic monsters to cook in order to make the most amazing meals possible. He first follows a group of knights on the hunt for a giant and possibly tasty dragon and soon ends up cooking for everyone, from kings and royal pets to barbarians and ghosts. Things hardly ever go as planned, however, and Rutabaga often has to concoct an exquisite dish to solve his problems and help his friends. As the story continues, Rutabaga doesn't really transition between adventures and more or less just wanders off until he happens on his next quest, making this selection feel more like a collection of short comics than an actual book. Still, author Colossal perfectly mixes action and humor, similar in style to "Adventure Time" comics writer Ryan North, only with simple enough language to please the chapter book-reading crowd. And his simple, manga-influenced illustrations will be just as easily accessible. A promising first course in a series that could really take off.—Peter Blenski, Greenfield Public Library, WI

Review "Colossal's full-color, cartoonish illustrations, with their heavy linework and simple figures, match the light, goofy tone of the stories." (Kirkus Reviews 2014-12-15)"Colossal perfectly mixes action and humor...A promising first course in a series that could really take off." (Peter Blenski, Greenfield Public Library, WI School Library Journal 2015-01-01)"Rutabaga’s culinary feats in the comic...could easily inspire young adventure chefs to make some gourmet grub of their own." (Sarah Hunter Booklist 2015-01-01)"The graphic-novel format works well here, pairing vivid retro-toned illustrations with a mostly cheerful, bouncy narration...future chefs will be well pleased that there are a few real recipes at the end of the book." (The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books)

By Celeste Pewter I've never been a big reader of graphic novels - it's due to a lack of exposure, more than anything else - but there was something about Rutabaga's cheerful cover that called out to me, when I walked past a stack of advanced reader copies (ARC) at ALA Midwinter. So I picked the ARC up and took it home. And I am so very glad I did. Because I've found a book that is not only enjoyable, but an absolutely lovely introduction to cooking and healthy eating for the younger readers in my life.Eric Colossal introduces us to Rutabaga, a feisty, fearless chef who is always on the lookout to find the best ingredients for his food. There is no obstacle or dragon that will stop Rutabaga from getting the freshest and most unique produce, while he also offers his culinary expertise in a variety of ways - e.g. curing royal pets, and going off to cook with Vikings. If there's one word I would use to describe Rutabaga, it's "fun". From beginning to end, Colossal's stories for Rutabaga are full of sly humor and quirky details, as we begin to get to know Rutabaga and his penchant for finding the most unique ingredients to use in his delicious-sounding cooking. While many of Rutabaga's recipes involve fictitious ingredients, there's no denying the book's gentle emphasis on the value of eating fresh ingredients and taking the time to enjoy your food. It's a great lesson for younger readers, especially as they continue to develop their culinary habits.Outside of the sheer cooking aspect, Rutabaga also serves as a crafty jack-of-all trades throughout the novel. He frequently applies his cooking skills to other dilemmas - including figuring out the diet for a starving royal pet, and tracking a monster - and it's a nice reminder that a skillset like cooking isn't isolated to simply creating and producing dishes. There's practicality to that skill and related skills, which younger readers will likely also appreciate. Each story is also nicely accentuated by Colossal's bold, yet detailed illustrations - they're a visual treat for an already very funny tale. And while the book ends with a bit of a cliffhanger, but readers will likely be relieved to know that there are definitely more books on the way.Final verdict:Rutabaga: The Adventure Chef, is not only a fun and cheerful read, it's also an educational read.Through Rutabaga's fearless adventures across kingdoms, forests and with the trusty Pot by his side, Colossal is helping young readers develop a strong appreciation for healthy food, and the art of cooking. And in a time where people are increasingly trying to emphasize healthy eating, this is a great thing.I live in an area that has a strong emphasis on farm-to-fork cooking, and Rutabaga's ideals absolutely fit in with that mentality. I've already recommended Rutabaga to the librarians I work with, and will be looking forward to recommending the book to the teachers I work with, as well.Highly recommend for graphic novel fans, and young foodies. This is the book for you.

Engaging, funny stories for young graphic novel fans By Janet Hamilton Summary: Rutabaga is a chef in search of adventure when he runs into Winn, Manny, and Beef, three young knights off to slay a dragon. Rutabaga decides to join them, along with his magical cooking pot. Knowing his limitations, he stays in the background when they find the dragon, but accidentally ends up being responsible for defeating it. The four kids continue on their way onto three more loosely connected comic adventures that have Rutabaga using all his cooking skills and optimistic attitude to consistently come out on top. Grades 2-4.Pros: Graphic novel fans will enjoy Rutabaga and his friends. The stories are engaging, funny, and not too challenging for young readers.Cons: I had a little trouble distinguishing the four characters. I didn’t realize that Winn(ifred) was a girl until the beginning of chapter three.

Dillard, Jr. Rutabaga is a young chef who travels the countryside in search of new recipes and adventure. In his travels, the gourmand meets a group of knights-errant, a king, some Vikings, and other strange creatures. Along with his magic cauldron. Pot, Rutabaga helps his new friends battle a dragon, train a baby monster, and uses his knowledge of exotic fruits and veggies to battle a crusty cook in an epic cook off in the kitchen of a secret tavern. I loved this new series by Eric Colossal. As a professional chef, I am excited to see youngsters so interested in food and developing culinary skills. Shows like Iron Chef and Chopped on Food Network have really inspired the next generation to be more adventurous and willing to learn how to cook. I think this revolution is because of how busy the modern family is these days that youngsters see an opportunity to slow things down and bond with siblings, parents, and loved ones by preparing a meal that everyone can enjoy ever once and a while. Plus, there's is just so much great food to explore in the world! That's what Rutabaga does here. He scours the world for culinary delights and uses his food knowledge to help others heal, relax, or celebrate their cultural heritage. There are dozens of recipes peppered throughout this book that children can try and create (with parental help, of course) such as the Adventurer's Snack Sacks filled with meat and potatoes and Chicken Spear with Peanut Dipping Sauce. I'd love to try the Perfect Pep Potion. Though, I'm not sure where they keep the sweetened blood berries at Wal-Mart. There's also a few recipes inspired by Rutabaga's adventures at the end of the book for readers to try. Speaking of the end, I did not want this book to stop. It was such a fun read. The art was cartoony but very detailed. The scenes when the Viking characters battle the monstrous Koraknis were epic. Eric Colossal did a fantastic job on this book and I cannot wait to see where he takes Rutabaga next. I expect big things from the Adventure Chef series in the coming year. I think it will be making must read lists (for 2015) and winning lots of young adult reading and graphic novel awards. Get on the bandwagon now folks as Rutabaga is going to be huge. Now let's get cooking and reading! Worth Consuming Rating: 10 out of 10 stars.

Eddie Red, Undercover: Mystery on Museum Mile, by Marcia Wells

From School Library Journal Gr 4–6—Edmund Xavier Lonnrot has a photographic memory and amazing art abilities, but in lots of ways he is just an ordinary sixth grader—growing tongue-tied and sweaty-palmed around a crush, playing video games with his best friend, and trying to convince his parents to give him more independence. His remarkable skills come to the attention of the local police, after he witnesses a man fleeing an altercation. Eddie can draw the suspect from memory and he is hired to help with a complicated art-theft case. Now known as "Eddie Red"—the codename he is given—he is eager to help, hoping to earn money to keep attending the school he loves in the wake of his father's recent layoff. Although he assists the police, his realistic sixth-graderness leads to some problems: using an officer's taser just like in the movies, getting really bored during stakeouts, and getting tied up after underestimating the real dangers involved. The plot moves along at a good pace, and though at times it strains belief, most readers won't mind. Eddie's portraits are sprinkled throughout the book, giving it added visual appeal and filling in some of the gaps in character development. "Eddie Red" is bound to be a series that will appeal to fans of fast-paced mysteries who have outgrown David A. Adler's "Cam Jansen" (Viking) books, but are not quite ready for the nuance of Blue Balliett's Chasing Vermeer (Scholastic, 2004).—Gesse Stark-Smith, Multnomah County Library, Portland, OR

From Booklist Sixth-grader Edmund’s photographic memory and drawing talent have propelled him into service with the NYPD to help solve a series of mysterious art thefts. Nicknamed Eddie Red by the annoyed detective assigned to work with him, Eddie is reminded that he is just a human camera, nothing else. Sitting in art museums drawing vases and watching black-and-white surveillance footage for hours on end is less than glamorous, but Eddie takes his job seriously . . . sometimes too seriously. Debut author Wells creates engaging characters, teen and adult, and the friendship between Eddie and his hyperactive OCD friend, Jonah, is well drawn. Readers will be rooting for Eddie to solve the crime and earn the tuition money he needs to stay enrolled in the private schoolfor gifted children he attends with Jonah. Full-page character sketches, presented as Eddie’s drawings, illustrate the mystery, and a quick art lesson in capturing faces closes the book. This is a strong start to a promising mystery series, and as Eddie would say, it’s über-cool. Grades 4-7. --Cindy Dobrez

Review "A sure pleaser for Cam Jansen grads or anyone fond of knotty, lightweight capers solved with brainpower (and a little luck)."—Kirkus "Eddie Red is bound to be a series that will appeal to fans of fast-paced mysteries" —School Library Journal "This is a strong start to a promising new series, and as Eddie would say, it's uber-cool." —Booklist "In Wells's lighthearted, voice-driven debut novel, first in a planned series, Eddie never truly seems in danger, but his audacity and persistance, a clever mystery that unfolds atmospherically, and Calo's sly pencil portraits result in a fun sleuthing story." —Publishers Weekly

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. A Good Read By Hrafnkell Haraldsson My 9-year-old son enjoyed this book, which is about what I expected since it is written for kids 9-12 years old. He said that it is "good" and that while there were some words he had difficulty with, he enjoyed it. I felt it was safe since he has been reading the Harry Potter books as well as books like "The Lightning Thief" by Rick Riordan. Eddie Red Undercover is told in the first person by, you guessed it, Eddie Red (real name: Edmund Lonnrot), who is a precocious (probably an understatement) 11 years old.It is written in an enjoyable style. If you are an adult you won't mind reading it with your kids if you are one of those parents who enjoys doing so. I know our son's school encourages taking turns reading aloud to each other. It is written in the voice of a modern kid, not the kids of my own generation, but if you watch movies and TV or have kids of your own, none of it will seem alien to you. I particularly enjoyed the first page, where Eddie identifies himself to the police with the thoughts, "Worst. Night. Ever." The story grabs you from the get go. Eddie has had something traumatic happen and he is in the police station and you don't know what, and the author isn't giving the game away too soon. So you read to find out what happened and by then you're hooked. But then there are those words your kid might need help with, like "stupor" or "quantum physics" or "idyllic" - words that most third graders don't encounter in their peer groups. But the story is well-written and in a voice a kid can relate to, and it is illustrated to boot with drawings of some of the characters (Eddie can draw anything he has seen), and it has a map right at the beginning. There is even an appendix at the end showing how to draw faces. If you've taken any art classes, this will be familiar to you. So all in all I'd recommend it. I can't give it 5 stars because my son said 4, but as a parent, I'd personally edge toward 5.

A fun book with characters using their brains, not their muscles, to solve problems By Silea It's nice to find a kids' suspense/mystery book where thinking about the problem is what solves it, rather than just running in and hoping for the best. While i thought this book started a little clumsily, it founds its feet pretty quickly. Edmund and his family are hilarious. His best friend adds a whole new layer of amusingly strange. And while the whole premise of the novel - the cops asking a kid with a photographic memory to help on a case - is laughably unlikely, it holds itself together just fine.I'm going to pre-order the next one as soon as it's available. For parents considering this for a child, to my recollection it's 100% free of any sexual content or profanity. There is one running gag about a kid who once wet his pants at school laughing too hard, though the butt of the joke is not the kid who wet his pants, so it's not mocking that. There's a tiny bit of violence, but no serious injuries. Bullying is brought up as a tangent topic, and i assume will be explored more in further volumes.

"Eddie Red") is an artistic student with a photographic memory. As an African-American in a private NYC school, he never focuses on his minority status. Unfortunately, Edmund's father has lost his job so his parents break the news to him that they won't be able to afford the tuition to Senate Academy next year. This impending problem serves to motivate Edmund into finding a job to cover next year's expenses....but with the police department! This story line is funny, engaging, and presents positive character traits. Edmund's parents are wholesome; his police job is important, and his interest in art is commendable. There are many humanities-related references that a middle schooler won't mind looking up. So often, fiction for this age group relies on negative images and violence. I honestly can't wait for the second book to be released next year. Teachers and parents....this book is very engaging!
