The one thing the author doesn't like is moving on with your life. The purpose of this, isn't to play games with your ex. It's because most people focus on their ex. Emotional attachments/mental attachments/spiritual attachments. If you're focused on your ex all the time, and not functioning in life, some people end up getting depressed like you said, and in grief. The redirecting your focus on other areas of your life is healthier, then thinking about your ex all day, everything you've done wrong, and whether or not he'll come back. Woman get overly anxious about that, and will sit all day pondering over it. And you do have to think about the relationship and whether it is abusive. Frankly, what you did helped in your situation. So, every relationship is not the same or healthy. I do agree there is a lot of bad information out there.
