Can she let nature take its course or will she interfere and cause the balance of life and death to spiral out of control? She’s out of time, and doesn’t know if she should trust Silas, the demon who has taken a very disturbing interest in her, or her father, a man just as evil as Silas. Either way, she has to make a choice. But what will it cost her and those she loves?

Ghosts everywhere By Ashley It's a wonder how many books there would be or how many pages they would be if Mattie, the main character, didn't constantly remind the reader her past. It's like reading the third Fifty Shades of Grey book, they were doing it so much you skipped half of the book! By the time you're in this book, I'd expect the reader knew a thing or two about her past!I love the Ghost Files series though, the second book is my favorite because it was fast paced and new things were happening. The third one will be interesting because the book ended but there are new ghosts and new horrors brought to light that were given entries into the story and I really hope the author doesn't forget them.I read all three books fast, thinking I was coming up on the final book (this one) only to realize that a fourth book is in production.Suggestion for book four: summarize the horror show, that happened to Mattie in her past, in a prologue, then stop talking about it!

Disappointing By Anna Mayfan THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERSI have read all three books in the series and I am a big fan on the story.I do have to say though that this book seemed rushed. The others were written a bit better than this one. Mattie has always bordered on a Mary-Sue like character but this one really cinched it.My biggest complaint is how rushed everything feels. There are random character facts tossed in carelessly between dialogue because it seems like the author realized she forgot to really explain the characters to is so they're sprinkled in randomly. There's no flow. One second she is at home with everybody, goes to her room to relax were she has a brief conversation with Silas, and suddenly everybody is gone and Mrs Cross is at work working the night shift? Did a few hours pass? They get into a boat and chat for a few sentences and suddenly they're so far away from land it will take 20 minutes to get to a public dock? When did this happen?Mattie is portrayed as this rough tough girl but is constantly letting men control her life. She ends up in the hospital 3-4 times and in the span of a couple of days hits her head over and over and it seems overdone. You need to better define your characters personalities. Is Mattie a tough woman or a scared little girl? She supposedly is a loner but keeps forming these instant bonds with only hot men. She allows a man to call her mine repeatedly which, admittedly made the feminist in me almost put the book down right there. You say she's a take no s*** type person but she constantly needs rescuing by literal knights without the shining armorEven Mary is now starting to read the same as Mattie, a tough spunky girl who can communicate with ghosts in some way. There was a lack of ghost activity in this book as well. We're moving into demonic territory and losing the basic concept we all started reading for. There was a BIG error in the last few chapters as well when Jake and Mason pop up where at first it seems that Jake is the killer bringing shovels, and then Paul appears where his name changes from Mitch and suddenly Jake isn't the killer but it's Paul/Mitch. Rushed. A good read through would have fixed that. Also, and this is a personal opinion, but please stop using real people and popular songs to describe things. Mattie sings this popular song, her dad looks like this popular actor on a hit TV show. It comes off as cheap product placement and like you can't describe your own charactersThis is a good well thought out story but you need to take your time with it and avoid pumping out another book for the sake of selling more.Lastly, nobody really starts a book series from the last book we really don't need the constant recaps from the previous ones. A slight mention for the sake of character conversation is fine but we get paragraphs of recap in dialogue. It's completely unnecessary.I assume it's so you can attract a wider audience of people who haven't read the first two but primarily people read book 1 before book 2 and doing that just frustrates people like me who read the previous books and want to keep the story moving not re-read everything I just read. It also prevents the random few who maybe stumbled on to book three and now no longer need to purchase the first two because you practically rewrote it all in this book.TLDR: Please, some better character development. Give your characters independent voices. Get back to your roots. And please stop with the lengthy re-caps.

Can't wait for the next one By C Thilmany Seventeen year-old, Mattie, who has seen ghosts since her mother attempted to kill her, is now being sought out by them, ever since she helped the ghost of her murdered foster sister. But a group of horribly tortured and killed girls want her dead, saying that what’s happened to them is all her fault; the murderer was chanting her name, over and over again. And since ghosts can touch Mattie, the threat is huge. It’s confusing for Mattie as she’s not quite sure who or what she is as more things are learned. I won’t give anything else away other than to say she’s got a guardian angel, a protector, a demon who wants to “help” her and a father she’s just meeting for the first time and doesn’t know quite what she thinks of him. This is a combination horror story/mystery with some romance thrown in for good measure. It’s easy to be in Mattie’s head and experience her emotions. Better have some tissues handy for this one. The characters and situations are interesting and with each book more is revealed about her genealogy as well as those of Dan and the family he was kidnapped from as a child. And we get hints about a bigger scheme behind everything that brought us to this point. The first book grabbed me right away and I’m still sucked into Mattie’s world. I can’t wait to find out what happens next with so many of the characters as well as discovering the truth behind what Mattie is and why everything was arranged for an outcome we’ve yet to learn about.
