About the Author Maurice Pledger is an internationally-acclaimed artist known for his realistic and detailed illustrations of animals and wildlife. He's had no formal art training, but achieves the realism and detail in his beautiful artwork by spending hours in the field observing, sketching, and studying his subjects in their natural environment. First published at age 17, he has since had his illustrations featured on greeting cards, prints, gifts, and books. He has created several successful series, including Sounds of the Wild, Peek-and-Find, Nature Trails, and Pledger Sticker Books. He was the recipient of the 1992 Francis Williams Illustration Award for the Best Descriptive Illustration. This honor is given only once every five years by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Wonderful Boardbook By The Invisible Pam Maurice Pledger does some truly wonderful little boardbooks and if you liked PING-PING PANDA (ISBN13: 9781571455789) you might want to follow Ping's adventures in the BAMBOO JOURNEY.THE STORY begins with Ping-Ping finishing with the bamboo where she currently is, only to discover that she is still hungry. So she sets out to discover where her next treat will come from.Ping-Ping sees all sorts of beautiful flowers and woodlands, and along the way she finds many animal friends.WHAT I LOVE about this book are the brilliant colors and all the animals that there are to point-at and name. And the way that Pledger has drawn Ping-Ping's eyes is so realistic and appealing. And well... pandas!Besides Ping-Ping there is a cute red panda named Rusty. There's also Becky Bluebird, Polly Pika, Katie Kingfisher and Hanna Hummingbird who join the search.Other animals include a variety of butterflies, dragon flies, beetles and birds.Adults like me will have lots to talk about and children will love the bright colors and animals.CONSTRUCTION-- The pages and cover and sturdy.-- The front cover has a patch of fur where little ones will be able to 'pet' Ping-Ping.-- Not every page has a pull-down tab. There are four in total. Plus the last page has fold out which makes it 3 panels wide.-- The tabs have a cut-out to help lift the edge but the first time through adults may have to get the tabs started.~WHAT I REALLY THINK:::I've just reviewed two of these boardbooks by Maurice Pledger and I really really like them. The colors are rich and artwork is excellent.The story in this book should appeal to children, and... well, flaps. Everyone likes flaps. But what gets 5 STARS from me is a book that had more than one virtue. And this book and the Dottie Dolphin book have a lot more going for them than flaps and story. You can use the books to teach colors, and to count. And there are plenty of animals to point-at and name.These things allow a book to be used for a longer length of time and not just at one developmental stage.Disclosure: review copy through goodreads

And while he searches for a meal he meets a lot of friendly animals having meals of their own. Rusty Red Panda is eating berries, Katie Kingfisher is hunting for insects and Hannah Hummingbird was drinking nectar from a flower. With the help of all of his friends Ping-Ping will soon find a tasty meal.Young readers will love this sturdy board book with its colorful illustrations that are bright and very realistic. On the cover readers can touch a fuzzy paw that belongs to Ping-Ping. Easy to read sentences are great for beginning readers. Parents will love this handy tool for reading anytime.

Ping-Ping is very hungry and her hunger takes he on a walk to find her favorite food, bamboo. Along the way she comes across from friends who are very willing to help her find the bamboo. The illustrations are just gorgeous and the friends she comes across are very sweet and kind to her. This is a book that young kids will love and have fun lifting the flaps to see what is underneath! 5 stars(PS I will also be using this book in my class Art Through Stories)
