Perfect book for those kids who have a whatever attitude By Heart of a Philanthropist HoaP would like to thank Christy Ziglar for gifting us a copy of Whatever Wanda in exchange for an honest review.Ever have one of those days when you want to do something but the rest of the family already has plans that you think are going to be boring? That is the kind of day Wanda is having! Wanda is NOT excited about going to the Rubber Duck Days Festival. She doesn't want to dress up in duck clothes to match her family, and she doesn't want to participate in dumb duck day traditions. Wanda goes with her family and has a miserable time. Her 'whatever' attitude doesn't seem to get anyone down but herself. Her friends are all having a great time. When it comes time to decide what to do next and Wanda says, "Whatever," she ends up getting the job of cleaning up after the Duck Day Festival! Poor Wanda. . . She starts to realize that if her attitude had been different she might have had some fun.A good samaritan comes by and tells Wanda that sometimes we have to believe something will be great in order to make it great. Wanda is allowed one more job. Even though she didn't earn the opportunity to ride on the Duck Day float, she gets to, and she passes out duck masks to all the bystanders. Whatever Wanda learned that day, she learned she must make her own fun!I love Christy Ziglar's simple writing style. This book is similar to her Can't Wait Willow (see review here). The story is focused on one thing. Wanda doesn't want to have fun so she doesn't. A savior comes along in the book that explains 'fun' to Wanda, and allows her another opportunity to have fun even though she doesn't deserve it. (Thus the savior character). Although there is more than one character in the book (Wanda's mom, her friends, and the savior), the story focuses on Wanda. That makes it easy for little ones to follow the story, and the sing-song story line, "Whatever." will engage children. They can read with you! "Whatever!" This is a perfect book for a child who thinks everything is 'boring.' It will give him/her a new outlook.HoaP received this book in exchange for an honest review. [...]

My two year old Nikolas jumped as soon as he saw all the ducks on the cover. He has a duck obsession since we moved to Missouri. He just loved all the pictures in it. The whole book is about a Duck Race, you can imagine his delight! My favorite part is the star that follows Wanda around and shows when her attitude is good or bad. It's such a fun addition to the story. This is a great teaching story about attitude. With the right attitude you will make your day and life great, and you'll be happy. With the wrong attitude you will be miserable and have a bad day. This story teaches your kids all about how just a slight change in attitude can make you and your day the best it can be. I have 8 kids and a few with rotten attitudes as they enter the teen years. So this book hit a chord with me. Life is all about what you make it, and this book encourages you to make it Great!~I received this for my honest review, all opinions are 100% my own.~

By PennyMindingMom “Whatever.”We’ve all had those “Whatever” days…You know, those days when our attitude gets the better of us. We have already determined that the task at hand isn’t going to be the least bit enjoyable. Is there anything we can do to take the “Whatever’s” away?“Whatever Wanda” written by Christy Ziglar, tells the story of Wanda, a little girl with a bad attitude. The annual Rubber Duck Day festival is the biggest celebration of the year. Everyone is excited to be there, everyone except Wanda. Whenever she is asked to join in the fun she just says, “Whatever”. Will her attitude keep her from having fun along with everyone else? The book is filled with little gems of wisdom and fun. The first being the “Dear Grownups” section. Parents should take a moment to read this. It will give you something to think about as your read through the story with your little one. You will also discover that there is a “Star Search” in the story. As you read through the story you and your little one can search for the star. When Wanda has a bad attitude the star is sad and deflated, and when she has a good attitude the star is bright and cheery. There were a couple of instances where my daughter didn’t pick up on the “sad” star, but she did recognize the problems with Wanda’s attitude. I loved this part of the book, while we were looking for the stars we were able to chat about why the star was sad and what Wanda could do to make the star happy again. The story is fun, even though Wanda’s attitude is poor, the story is still bright and cheery. The message is powerful and shared in a way that young children can understand using situations that children can easily relate to. The illustrations are bright and suited the story perfectly. The duck theme is so cute and adds just a little more fun to the story.“Whatever Wanda” is a great story for parents and children to share together. It shows us how we are in charge of our attitude. Being positive is a choice that we each have to make. As parents we need to teach our children that sometimes our attitudes aren’t appropriate for the situation and this book helps us teach this lesson at time when the attitude is not the problem. It takes the lesson to a time and place where your child will be more open to listening.Be sure to take a moment to visit the Shine Bright Kids website for some great parenting resources, children’s games, worksheets and other activities. We can’t wait to print off the “Make Your Own Book” and create our own story for our bookshelf!I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my review.
